There is nothing I can say about this place that everyone in Northridge doesn't already know. Family run business, fresh food, and laffa bread made right when you order it. You haven't had laffa bread before? Then please try it here first. Allow your first experience with this deliciousness to be at a place that has perfected it. I have been ordering the same thing every time I come here since they first opened...Chicken Shawarma Laffa. Think of it like a mediterranean burrito. You can call it a wrap, but it isn't remotely close to what most people envision when they hear the word wrap. The chicken shawarma is rotating slowly on a vertical rotisserie waiting to be placed in the the warm laffa. You get a choice of fries or rice. Not on the side, but on the inside of your laffa creation. Go with the fries. Trust me. They top it off with hummus, lettuce, tomatoes and marinated onions and roll it up like what could only be described as a giant burrito. I have been all over Los Angeles and tried shawarma and laffa at dozens of places. Pita Pockets is the best. Hands down.

Delicious! 10 out of 10 I could smell the food cooking when I walked out of the market and I had to stop by and try it. I'm so glad I did. The food is freshly made right in front of you. The pita bread is homemade and they shave the meat off the spinner when you order. The meat has so much flavor and it's juicy. They have a pretty big shaded outdoor patio. It's very clean. inside seating as well. The employees are nice. I didn't know what to get so they suggested my food The portions are huge. I couldn't finish it all. I also ordered food to go ☺️ They have a cool coffee machine that I have to try next visit.. AND DESSERTS! YUMM they were so good. I'll definitely be back to try more stuff.

The food was okay. Both the chicken and steak kabob had a tangy flavor to it, really no difference in both, in my opinion. Everything was great, up until the end when we found a hair in the pickled radish. Now, mind you, the pickled radish you serve yourself. I grabbed the small disposable tray and checked to make sure it was clean since they had them sitting by the counter. (Mind you, I am bald, so definitely not my hair). My wife was disgusted by the fact that the hair most likely came from the big batch of pickled radish, and we ate radish from there. There is plenty of parking on the lot.

I’ve been going to Pita Pockets in Northridge a few times a year over the past few years, hoping things might improve, but unfortunately, it’s time to call it quits. I won’t be returning, and here’s why.

First and foremost, the service here is shockingly rude. Every time I’ve visited, I’ve been met with unwelcoming attitudes and an almost complete disregard for customer service. Whether it’s impatience at the counter, dismissive responses to questions, or an air of indifference when pointing out issues, the staff consistently fails to make diners feel valued. A casual vibe is fine, but this level of rudeness is completely unacceptable.

As for the food, it’s incredibly disappointing. I’ve tried to give the menu a fair shot over the years, but it always underwhelms. The pita is often dry, the fillings lack flavor, and the portion sizes are downright stingy. On my last visit, I ordered a chicken shawarma wrap, and not only was the chicken dry and poorly seasoned, but the amount of meat and toppings was so small that I felt like I was eating mostly bread. For the high prices they charge, I expected much better. The side dishes also seem like an afterthought—bland, uninspired, and sometimes even stale.

The interior doesn’t do the place any favors, either. While I understand not every restaurant can have a modern aesthetic, Pita Pockets feels both dated and neglected. The seating is uncomfortable, the decor is worn out, and the cleanliness is questionable at best. On my last visit, the tables were sticky, and the floors didn’t look like they had been cleaned in a while. It’s hard to enjoy a meal in an environment that feels this uninviting.

After giving Pita Pockets so many chances over the years, I’ve finally given up. The rude service, disappointing food, small portions, high prices, and outdated, unclean interior have all added up to a thoroughly frustrating experience. Northridge has plenty of other spots offering great Mediterranean food with better service and cleaner, more welcoming spaces. If you’re considering this place, I’d strongly recommend looking...

Friendly staff. Easy pickup experience.

Perhaps the Bay Area and the recent trip to Israel has spoilt me with excellent falafel plates and falafel sandwiches. I was excited to try Pita Pockets, especially after reading the excellent reviews.

My experience was average. The falafel was slightly soggy, lacked the crisp/crunchy texture and did not have a distinct flavor.

The falafel plate had plain boiled white rice, which lacked flavor or seasoning.

Perhaps, the food is better enjoyed fresh at the restaurant than as takeout. Also, this place may be better for their meat options. Or they were having an off day.

It's COVID, and restaurants are working very hard, so I do not want to dissuade anyone from giving Pita Pockets a shot. I did, and found them lacking, but this is purely based on the 2 falafel items that I experienced.

On the positive side, their hummus wasn't bad. Also, they have a hot sauce that I enjoyed -- it adds a much needed punch to your...
