The food there is nasty, they literally just microwave their tamales.
Edit: It seems my review caught the attention of the owner. I don't normally leave negative reviews (see my post history), but I was compelled to go back and review this place as the food was just horrible. Me and my partner wanted a quick bite before leaving Olvera Street, as you know it can get quite busy, but Juanitas was fairly empty, so we decided to give them a try. We were seated and we got our food fairly quickly.
While we were waiting for our food I was pretty dissapointed with what I saw, the waiter unwrapping the 2 tamales, and placing them in their microwave. Once we got our food we realized why we got our food quickly, everything felt like it was prepackaged, from that little bit of salad they give you, to the cheese they use, half of it came out of a microwave.
The flautas were OK, but they were cold! The one thing that could have redeemed this was cold, and the green sauce that went on top of it was bland too. (Try Los Dorados LA for a wayy better flauta)
Just overall bad experience and everything felt fake, right down to the foam plates and cup...
Read moreJuanita's Café delivered a truly satisfying meal with their taquitos and taco combo. The taquitos were perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with flavorful meat that was both juicy and well-seasoned. The taco had a great balance of texture and taste, with a fresh tortilla, tender filling, and just the right amount of toppings to bring everything together.
What really stood out, though, were the sides. The beans were hearty and rich, a comforting complement to the main dish that added depth to the overall meal. The salad, though simple, was fresh and crisp, providing a refreshing contrast to the warm, savory items on the plate. It's clear that attention to quality and flavor is a priority at Juanitaâs.
Overall, Juanita's CafĂ© is a spot worth returning to. The service was friendly, and the food came out quickly and hot. If youâre looking for a meal that hits the spot without being overly complicated, the taquitos and taco combo is a solid choice. Iâll definitely be back to try more...
Read moreGruff and focused on their craft, the three guys working to serve up the best taquitos in existence can be forgiven their demeanor and whatever trivial impact to service some may claim of this place. You didn't come to Olivares Street for the impeccable service. No, it's all about the fabulous food - quel beuno taquitos! Some places may have attained the loftiness of being world renowned, other places, like Jaunitas, are too busy dishing out the best of fare to really care about fame. Truly, you are missing out if you get your taquitos elsewhere! Pay close attention to the menu, order a taquito combo and more taquitos on the side for maximum effect. I go to Olivares for the food, which is almost always at this single shop. Locals know how to find the street parking a block or two into Chinatown; the rest will either shell out $15 for access to a parking lot or be summarily dismissed when the lone parking lot invariably...
