7/17/2021 Important to please note that his review has nothing to do with the Maria's as a whole, and I really hate to leave a poor review for Maria's Italian Kitchen since we have been loyal customers for decades. West Los Angeles at first and since, my family and I have always gone out of our way to find a Maria's location when wanting great Italian food. However this evening when my wife and I walked into the Encino restaurant at 8.30 we were greeted by a rather displeasing young woman whose initial greeting was were closing a 9.00 PM. I was somewhat taken back but maybe she had a long day, so I chose to just ignore the comment. We then sat inside where we realized it was incredibly cold. There was only one other couple at another table. I asked the same young woman if she could warm it up a touch, and we were curtly told that it needed to be cold for health reasons. We then moved to the small outdoor patio which was great. The server was very impatient for us to order and my wife wanted a couple of minutes to read the menu. When we decided to order the Parmigiana we were informed it would take 15-20 minutes. I looked at my watch and asked what happens if it's after nine and were here, do we have to leave? Her response was a rude "YES" At that point I requested her name which she was not quick to respond but she told me it was Melissa. We then got up and went to another restaurant close by, where we were greeted warmly. I am aware that servers are difficult to come by these days, but so are loyal customers! To many other options to put up with this kind of attitude. Will certainly continue to patronize Maria's but not at this...
Read moreMy family and I really like this place but today was different. I went with my little boy and I have never felt the way the Tall, white male server, behind the counter made me feel. I asked for a box to take my pizza left overs and no one ever came to check up on me or even to offer the BILL. So, I walk up with my son to pay to the register and as I'm walking the "white male server" behind the counter says " Uh. Do you wanna take care of your bill before you go?". I said "Yea, that's what I'm gonna do but I don't have my bill." I feel that his attitude towards me were prejudice because of how I looked, I wasn't looking "nice" like everyone else. I mean just got out of work, picked up son from school, we're both dirty from day's activities, and we're Hispanic. Does that ring a bell? I've come here many times and paid over $80 in family dinners and this guy makes the presumption that I'm about to walk out without paying my bill. I don't like to feel "oh it's cause I'm Mexican" type of way, but I study prejudice in my major. Other than that, my...
Read moreThis was my first time here. My aunt's job orders from here. This is a nice cozy restaurant. I love how friendly the staff was. The service was great and the food came out quick. We ordered some bread which was soooooo good. It was nice and warm. Then we ordered some calamari as an appetizer. This gave me time to review the wine list. They had some great wine options that are organic and biodynamics. I tried the Tuscany II red. For my main dish, I ordered some gnocchi in pesto sauce with a side of breaded chicken. Don't judge me. I was wanting some protein. My family ordered some pizza with sausage and ravioli. The food was really good. It came out hot and quick. We went on a Friday afternoon around 4:30pm. I really enjoyed it here. The bathroom was clean. I hope to come back here again when...
