Found out about this restaurant via YouTube. Located near Silver Lake. It's a bit difficult to get there due to traffic. The area is a bit shady with homeless but also attracts the hipster crowd. Seems there's only street parking, which is a bit of a challenge to find. There's no indoor seating. While there, I noticed most orders are for pick-up and to-go.
However, there are a few tables on the sidewalk on both sides of the restaurant.
Menus are displayed in the windows outside the restaurant. As soon as you open the door, you are greeted by the staff at the counter. There's just enough room inside to place your order. You then wait outside for your order to be freshly prepared.
I can tell the owners did their best to make it pleasant. They have nice murals painted on the sides of the red brick walls. Sadly, as with everything in LA, taggers sprayed graffiti all over them.
It's not the fault of the owners. Shame on the city for not enforcing laws and protecting tax players and small business owners.
The food is of excellent quality and ingredients.
They served us complimentary nacho chips with a side of sauce. Both fresh and yummy.
The homemade papas are basically sliced potato wedges sprinkled with spices. They are tender, meaty and full of flavor. They're served with a side of sauce.
The shrimp tacos are delicious but as others have mentioned the sauce over powers the other flavors.
The chicken tacos are amazing. Strongly recommend.
The falafel tacos (the main reason I visited) are excellent. They're made of chickpeas/ garbanzo beans and doesn't have any fava beans in case of allergies.
Also tried the Armenian pear soda. It's made with real sugar. It's refreshing and not too sweet.
Overall the food is excellent. However it's a bit over priced give there's no indoor seating. The sidewalk dining is fine if wasn't for the loud traffic on the busy street. Also the homeless walking around gives it a feel of The walking Dead.
Wish this restaurant had a better location then I'd be...
Read moreI’ve been eyeing this restaurant for a while. The day finally came and I tried two tacos.
The tacos aren’t small and they’re under $6 each. It’s really a good value, especially for Silver Lake. The flour tortillas aren’t the best. They were both kind of dry, too thin and were heated a bit too much so they were crackly in some parts. The beef taco wasn’t really to my liking. It’s too spicy for me. It’s not very spicy but I’m probably the only Mexican on earth that under appreciates spicy food. Ok maybe one of the few. The beef itself is kind of braised I think, which I’m not a fan of. I like carne asada. The beef taco is good in some ways though and I bet if you give it a try you may like it. The chicken tacos are what you should get. Much better flavor. These I actually enjoyed.
I had a walnut soda which was the worst soda ever. It didn’t taste like walnuts and it was just a sugary mess so I tossed it.
Service is ok.
There are seats inside and outside but the outside seats are what made me think this place would be super cool. Great people watching. So it’s definitely a place to hang out and enjoy the chicken tacos.
Meter parking nearby and if you’re lucky there are actually some free parking...
Read moreI recently heard about this place, and I definitely needed to check out Mideast Tacos.
Mideast Tacos has really tasty and flavorful foods. My girlfriend had two tacos (chicken and shrimp). I had a steak burrito and a chicken taco. If you move spicy food, this place will hit the spot. My girlfriend felt that her food was a bit too spicy to truly enjoy her liking. As for myself, I loved the spiciness that the burrito provided.
Service was excellent from the person taking our order to the young lady who delivers your food to you.
As for ambiance, Mideast Tacos only offer outdoor dining. If you are into outdoor dining, then you will get a great view of Sunset and Maltman Ave. Just be careful since the corner that Mideast Tacos is on can get a little wild.
I would most definitely eat Mideast Tacos again, and I highly recommend it.
