For tacos in LA, Nueva is a tad pricey but worth it for the servers & atmosphere. You can make a reservation on the Resy app and they have valet available if you can’t find street parking.
Seating: The patios are both spacious and dog friendly. The one where we sat was covered (rain-safe) and well heated. They also brought a water bowl for my dog Olaf!
Apps: The green cilantro emulsion sauce that comes with the Crispy Cauliflower ($15) is the best part, with lime, jalapeño, and Parmesan cheese. My friend got the pork taco and really appreciated that it had the same cilantro emulsion on top.
Tacos: The tacos are priced individually, so be aware of this while ordering. I found 2 tacos + sharing an appetizer was enough food for me. I really appreciated that their tacos are served on gluten free, organic blue corn tortillas. The Shrimp Taco was one of the specials of the evening and it was my favorite of the two I tried. The Braised Short Rib Taco ($7.50) had a mezcal glaze, cabbage slaw, radish, and cucumber, topped with cilantro. I wish there had been more sauce or salsa on the short rib taco because it was a little drier than I’d expected, but it was still tasty.
Mocktails: I love that they had non-alcoholic cocktail options for those not drinking. The Passionfruit Picante Spritz ($9) is refreshing, with passionfruit, habanero, Thai chili, tamarind, and lime mineral water. It was even served in a cute glass with an orchid flower. I do wish they had another type of straw, such as agave, instead of the paper straw because it started to bend.
Cocktails: The Tepache Mule ($17) was very popular at our table. With mezcal, pineapple tepache, ginger, lime, mineral water, and bitters. It also was very visually appealing with two pineapple leaves...
Read moreLocals to the area and decided to give this place a try (8/9/22). My girlfriend said in the past this place was good. We are regulars to a few spots close by and we skated over for a late night dinner. We ordered the cauliflower tempura to start and boy were they bland. Little to no flavor in the breading. The green sauce was the only thing that made them edible. We quickly ran out of the sauce and our server was no where to be found. We had to get the floor manager to get us more. The server and floor manager never touched the table and asked us how our meal was. I would have said not good.. Next we each got two tacos. I had the sea bass that were bland and the fish was luke warm. The falafel tacos were dry and again a weird temperature. It’s like they sat in the window while they waited for our cauliflower tempura to be cooked. The margarita was good, but kind of hard to mess that up. For over $50 bucks per person this place was a huge let down. I get better tacos at local “Bertos” establishments. I’ll definitely never come back. Over priced and...
Read moreThey don't have enchiladas! It's a Mexican-American joint. Like wow everything but that! I wanted to talk to the manager too. Food was great! I got some nachos and tacos. Tacos are overpriced at $5 each tortilla. Wish the nachos were bigger! Tacos are bomb. Our waiter Juan was excellent and the busser. (Don't know his name. Atmosphere was lovely. They should make it into a dance night though.
CONS: AUTOMATIC Gratuity! I won't be coming back because of that. This restaurant does that. It was a party of 3. Myself and 2 girlfriend of mine. Usually that's with a party of 7 with automatic gratuity. I even told our waiter that why can't your job pay you? Respectfully. It shouldn't be on the customer to pay for their wage. I don't mind tipping but not when it's automatic. I just don't agree with gratuity UNLESS it's a party of 7+. Other than that it was a...
