This is one of my family's favorites, we have been here at least 15-20 times in less than a year. The food is satisfying and delicious and tastes like it was made with love. For you protein and bodybuilding fans, you get large amounts of delicious and healthy meat. And by healthy, I don't mean low-fat, I just mean it feels like it nourishes my body and my stomach is so happy afterward! Low-fat is not always good for you.
Anyway, we get the BBQ teriyaki chicken with dark meat, pork katsu, and short ribs plates. Those are our absolute favorites, the dark meat is juicy and the short ribs are flavored perfectly. It's not the cheapest prices, but the amount of food and meat you get is fantastic. The plates come with a side of white rice, green salad with Asian dressing, and choice of either macaroni salad Hawaiian style or bean sprouts. The bean sprouts are good, but the mac salad is DELICIOUS, so "ono" as the Hawaiians say. No, it's not low-fat, but it's worth it!
The guy at the cash register is the owner, I believe, an older Korean man, He is businesslike and serious like my Asian grandpa lol, that is the culture. The place has a lot of headshots on the wall, and my kids found one of Frank Ocean, which blew them away, LOL!
Parking is very easy, the lot is free with lots of spaces. There is limited seating inside and some outside, but we have never had a problem getting seats for the 4 of us b/c it seems like most people do takeout. Note: NOT OPEN SUNDAYS as of this review,...
Read moreThis place hands down sucks. Two plates of food 45$ and doesnt even come w/ a drink. That's another 5$. The owner was hella grouchy when he took our order after we told him we were first timers and he didnt even care to help us. The only thing he cared about, was his pen after signing for the bill. The food was aweful. The worst hawaiian food ever. The chicken Katsu was over burnt and the beef is not Rib eye. The only good thing was the chili sauce. I was so disappointed reading about these guys having a 4.6 rating and I was born and raised in Hawaii to know about Hawaiian food. I ended up throwing my whole plate of food away after 2 bites. You should be ashamed for ripping off your customers and ruining the Hawaiian name. Mightest have just said its a straight...
Read moreDelicious food. You pretty much can't go wrong with anything on their menu. They have even added spam and rice to the menu. The spam and rice dish was bit too salty for me. But my faves are the Beef BBQ ribs, teriyaki BBQ salmon, and the bibimbap with beef. Their portions have gone smaller and the prices seem to keep growing steadily, but their food is so yummy. The dessert menu is limited, which is the shaved ice with/without ice cream, but still very worth it. You will definitely leave there rubbing your belly from being so full. You might even have a celebrity...
