Do yourself a huge favor and do not book a stay here for absolutely no reason at all. || I booked two rooms a few months prior to my stay and the main reason I selected this location was due to the close proximity to Universal studios. I decided to choose something close to the park because my husband and I were taking his sister, who is autistic and his mom to universal. I wanted something nearby Incase she she felt unwell, then we could quickly return to the hotel. I will have to say the experience with the hotel started off bad right away. Before even leaving for the airport I received a message from Expedia stating that both of the reservations I had made were cancelled. I became very worried because we were set to fly to Burbank within a few hours. I called the hotel to explain what had occurred and asked if we could still keep the rooms. The man who answered the phone seemed rude about the issue, but mentioned there should be rooms available. I contacted Expedia because I wanted to confirm that we would have a place to stay once I arrived to the hotel at night. They told me the hotel would accommodate. The front desk called me when I was arriving to the hotel and told me I needed to be there before 9:30, it was 9:15 and I mentioned I had just arrived. Right from the beginning the front desk man looked at us and seemed very annoyed and didn’t seem interested to help us. We tried again explaining the situation about what happened with the cancellation and asked if we would be charged the price from Expedia. Earlier in the day when I called the man he stated one price and at the front desk he stated another price. My husband mentioned how he had spoke to Expedia and then the front desk man began to yell at him. He started yelling and saying that we were calling him a crook and that he wasn’t honest . At that point and time we were just confused as to what was happening because we have never experienced customer service to be so unprofessional and disrespectful. We were just trying to explain and he continued to yell at my husband. He said he didn’t like his personality and he didn’t like how he acted . As this was occurring, I honestly felt he was being prejudiced towards my husband. He then started yelling again and calling my husband stupid and telling him to shut up various times. The man continued to verbally harass my husband. I tried to calmly diffuse the situation because I was worried about us being left with no rooms late at night . The man went on to roll his eyes at me and stepped away from the front desk and continued his hatred towards my husband. At that moment in time my Autistic sister in law clenched on to her bunny and started telling the man that he was scaring her and told him she was going to cry. I then felt horrible that the man was treating us when he so clearly saw we had a disabled person with us so I started crying. He continued to yell at my husband and said he was going to call the cops on us. He yelled at us to leave and kicked us out of the hotel. We walked outside and I told the tall front desk man and his coworker that it was really messed up that they would treat disabled people like this. Once we were outside waiting we quickly had to look for a new hotel and called a rideshare. While we were waiting he continued to harass us, we were no longer on his property but outside of it. We couldn’t leave the location due to it being 9:30 and it was sketchy outside. ||I’ve never seen horrible treatment like this towards customers and I’ve worked in retail before. Luckily my husband, a veteran, knew how to stay calm throughout this whole ordeal. Please do not go to el royale in studio city . The front desk clerk who I figured out is the hotel owner treats people horribly because he knows he can get away with it. It’s disgusting that a hotel owner would verbally abuse people for no reason. I did some searching about the hotel and other reviews mentioned that he has treated other guests the same. He will go and cancel reservations so that people will have to pay cash and over charges them once they arrive to the hotel. Do yourself a huge favor and stay else where. I’m still shaken over the whole situation which then caused me stress...

Read moreQuick summary: for the price I think you could get a better location. Some staff were creepy.
We booked this hotel as the outside does appear quite cute in the photos and it was one of the closer hotels to Universal Studios. When we arrived it was evening and when we went into the office to check in we had to wait about 10 minutes for anyone to show up. That’s ok, but it would be nice if the bell was fixed. Eventually a staff member showed up, I think he might have been in housekeeping. He was very odd, he talked about very random things like the picture of a dog on the map they provided us. It was hard to put a finger on it exactly as he never did anything rude but I felt he was creepy. He didn’t have much respect for my personal “bubble” and my husband said he kept ogling me when I turned around. Eventually management showed up. Nice enough man, very straight forward and wearing shades (at night). The vibe was just strange but at the same time it wasn’t awful. The room itself is pretty much completely bare, no decor and no coziness. But it was clean and appeared in good repair. The shower was my favourite. The bed was quite firm but okay. One towel was dirty with a little mud on it, the rest of the linens appeared clean. The outside of each little room is very cute with pretty flowers and shrubs The neighbourhood next door was a little sketchy. Some homeless people wandering the streets, a few intoxicated. We felt the safeness was questionable. We did walk to a next door British Pub which was decent and to Universal. Management told us it was a 12 minute walk but it took us about 30 minutes to get to the theme park. Overall I wouldn’t come here again, especially if I was having to stay by myself. I think you could get better places for the money. If it was priced for less I would think that was appropriate. Oh and no real breakfast. We saw diy oatmeal and coffee, my husband thinks maybe there was one other option.
Add a few pictures on the wall, lower your price, add another blanket to the bed (they were incredibly thin more like a sheet), a towel hook and some clothes hangers and it would look a...
