Took my significant other here due to her being an italian food lover. Located it online and through the use of reviews I decided to give it a try. Upon entry at 7:15 pm we were rapidly approached and asked by a Male, with a bald head "do you have a reservation?" Not knowing that it was needed I replied "no." The gentlemen who I believed to be either the owner, manager or a shot caller of some sort point to a lonesome table and simultaneously stated "I only have this one over here." Anyways we sat around for approximately 15 minutes before we were asked to order anything. Once we received service and such it was fine. The servers were great and food was mediocre. The filet mignon was decent and the penne salmon pasta was actually good. The burrata was delicious as well. At 8:30 pm hours we concluded our meal, paid the bill, left a great tip and discovered that at least THREE tables were not occupied during the time in which we dined. Just an interesting thing to point out. The Male who directed us to the table did not once ever approach us, ask us how we or the meal was but was conversing with other customers throughout and even drank a glass of wine at one of the tables. Wont be back to this restaurant. Semper Fidelis old...
Read moreA small trattoria with a big taste. The authentic Italian menu features a variety of favorites and some new Italian finds. I tried the Tortellacci di Zucca, which is a housemade pumpkin tortellacci with sage in a sage cream sauce. So decadent. We also had the Pappardelle di Manzo, housemade pappardelle, Angus short ribs rage and tomato sauce. Another savory dish.
In addition to housemade pasta dishes Pagliacci's offers signature dishes which include fish, filet mignon, osso bucco, chicken and veal. The staples of pizza and antipasti are just as salvating. The menu is accompanied with a very well paired wine list. We enjoyed a merlot and a sauvignon blanc.
The location is easy to find on the corner of Coldwater Canyon and Moorpark, but be prepared there is valet only parking in this tiny center. We found parking on the street and walked to the restaurant, which helped after the meal to walk a bit back to the car.
The restaurant inside is small and intimate. Enjoy the housemade pasta and wine with a good conversation, or watch your sporting event on their TV. Kids are welcome, but this really isn't a place for kids and no room for them to move around. It is very close quarters, like a...
Read moreBefore I even start on the food, I need to note that Vlad was one of the best waiters I’ve ever had. Clearly took pride in his work, he took great care of us.
My partner took me here for a special date night. We had their rosé and it tasted like a late spring/early summer day on the Amalfi Coast.
We tried the Italian chopped (delicious), spaghetti allo scoglio (my mouth is running as I recall this one), and the fettuccine bolognese (per Vlad’s recommendation; it’s like the best version of a comfort food made extra special by your grandma). For dessert we tried the tiramisu and my classic crème brûlée. They were everything you could imagine for a restaurant that already succeeded on many counts. Everything was so spectacular I can’t begin to identify which part was my favorite.
We also got a pizza to go for later because that’s just how we roll. We got the Bianca, one of my favorites, and it...
