This is a new location, they've been open for 3 months. I would think that with several other successful locations there wouldn't be a learning curve with a new place but . . .
I don't know if I will return to this location. I love the Glendale location. The area, staff, ambience and food is much better.
First it is in the Century City Mall. Pretty cool, huh? Nope. It is in the Bloomingdales wing next to an elevator and a cement wall. No view. Nothing to look at. Kind of dreary.
Appetizer combo platter was sorely lacking. In Glendale the plate is covered with 3 kinds of hummus, falafel, caprese, salad and some pita. The food was overflowing the plate and you could just eat that and be full. Here not so much. Hummus was ok. The black bean one is not great. 3 little falafel balls, and 2 caprese stacks. And a lot of plate in between. The pesto on the caprese stacks was outstanding.
Entrees Beef koubideh kabob was excellent with fluffy, tasty rice. The salad was un-eatable. I hate wilted gross mixed greens. Yuck!
Salmon and Brie panini was quite good. Imagine a bagel with locks but on a panini.
Tuna melt panini was really good. The balsamic glaze made the sandwich. The greens and red onions make it a stand out. It is also hearty enough to take 1/2 to go for later. It didn't get soggy.
There was a stern man, looked like he may be a manager hanging out talking to the employees one by one. No interaction with any costumers.
My husband ordered a hot tea and they give you a choice of several different kinds. But no sugar cubes ???? How could you serve a tea at a Mediterranean Persian leaning restaurant without a little something sweet? And I don't mean dessert. A couple of sugar cubes, or a zoolbia (like in Glendale). Not a good way to end a mean of kabob and rice.
I almost forgot the best most unexpected thing they have there! Baklava with ice cream !!! 2 triangles of Hot baklava with vanilla bean ice cream. I don't really care for baklava I could usually take it or leave it. But this hot baklava with ice cream is something else !
As I look at the pictures, maybe the plates are too big. Especially for the appetizer and dessert.
I will give it a little time before I come back to this location. I hope it improves because I do love Panini Grill and Kabob's other locations and I do love the...
Read moreI really enjoy their chicken; it is some of the best. However, their service is a 0, some of the worst i've experienced in a while. The real sad part is that it came from the management team. First, I walked up to the pickup counter with one lady standing to the side ( Customer) and a young man standing back. I'm assuming he was waiting on his order. I waited for a minute or two and there were two ladies working behind the counter with their backs to the customer counter. I said hi and the one with the back button-up shirt was like how can I help you. I told her I was picking up an order and gave her my name. She found it, and when I asked her not to seal the bag until I checked and see if my order was cooked correctly, she seemed to have copped an attitude and said I would not touch the containers that I'd just paid for. I requested my food be cooked well done, so why does she have a problem with me making sure it was prepared like I requested? I then requested an extra salad dressing, and she was rude about that, letting me know it would be an additional charge. (OK) I'm not surprised with the way the interaction is going. As she was taking my money for the extra dressing, the lady that was standing there just inquired about her order, and she received a response, I will let you know when it's ready. Sometimes, it's not what you say but how you say it. I didn't get her name, but once I walked out the door, I called to ask who the general manager was, and I was told Alex. I asked if I could speak with him, and sure, no problem. I was placed on hold each time for two or three minutes. Three different times. Yes, I would hang up and call back. It wasn't until the third time when I told them I was going to Yelp them and call corporate, that he finally came to the phone. When he finally got to the phone he said no one told him he had received a call. THAT IS NOT TRUE; I DON'T BELIEVE THAT AT ALL. He also told me that the lady that I was having these issues with was also the manager. All I can say is it starts from the TOP and Panini Kabob in Century City needs to make some staff changes. I love the chicken, but it's chicken. At the end of the day, I will spend my money someplace else until some staff changes are made. Just my feedback: do what you want with...
Read morePoor service. Racist waitresses. They ganged up on me. March 19, about 7.40pm. I was waiting pick up order behind a suit men. Suit men went to right side pay bill. I went to in front desk waiting Staff ask me pick up name ( i am delivery driver, come here every day). At that time, another men passed me ask picked up order. I told a White cloth woman.... I am the first. Why you ask me first. The woman didn't reply me. And then I repeated the question to her slightly louder. I was here first. She looks said i was watching phone. But i think watching phone is not problem. You Just call me, i will immediately reply you, But she didn't... At that time, a black T shirt woman came here. I told her I just waited behind the man in the suit. So, I was here first. Why don't you ask me first? I didn't hear what the woman in black said, but I knew from the expression on her stern face. She told me to get lost and wouldn't let me pick up my takeout. I felt bullied. Because my English is not good. I can't speak. I just said you are rube. They convicted me without investigating. I feel like I'm being discriminated against and bullied. They could have checked the surveillance. I waited behind the man in the suit. It was just me and him at the front desk. What's the point of having good food, it's good character that counts. The woman in the black dress completely sided with one of their own to get rid of me. Restaurants like this are not worth patronizing.
I re-said it three times : I was here first why didn't you ask me first. Only the last time the tone was louder and the expression was angry . I didn't curse or make a scene. I just said YOU ARE RUDE at the end after the woman in black looked at me with disdain and wouldn't let me pick up my takeout. After I said that I left. Because all of them looked at me with contempt. I don't think I did anything wrong. I was just...
