When coming in they didn’t greet me. They gave me instructions on what to do so when you’re ordering a Poké bowl, they have menus outside with pants and before paying you like what kind of fish you’ll have with the vegetables, salad rice, and all that other stuff I did that on the person that likes to watch what people are doing if I am able to see the person preparing my food. There was a Hispanic guy or at least he looks Hispanic and he took care of a customer. He was handling cash. Keep your change did not wash his hands started touching pots the fridge And things where the section where people are themselves start preparing the bowls. Like I said at all times I was watching him. He did not wash his hands and he did not have a glove or gloves. He was almost done with my bowl when he started preparing a sauce then he put on a glove, but this was after he was touching everything with his hands with his dirty hands. He calls me over not nicely, and I tell him that he did a lot of wrong things. I told him that I saw him mandolin cash, and now he started touching pots in the fridge and everything there in the kitchen and then preparing my bowl without washing his hands or putting any gloves. He immediately said that that wasn’t truth, and I told him that I didn’t have to lie that I was watching him at all times also because I was recording because I like to leave reviews for restaurants I still ate the food, but I was definitely scared to see someone in the food, industry handling, cash, and handling food at the same time and I did call him out and I did tell him that I was also looking at his coworker how he was constantly washing his hands, putting out gloves using towels, and I told him that’s what you need to do like the person working behind you Anyways I wouldn’t recommend anyone coming here at all. They didn’t offer to make another bowl or to get a refund or partial refund which I...

Lovely and uber yummy new spot for Poke (bowl of fresh, raw fish on rice w/ toppings) & Temaki (sushi hand roll) in Highland Park.

Being a transplant from the 626, Poke has always been one of the food staples of my life.  These folks here do it right.  After 5 separate visits over a month, I can most definitely say:

*Super fresh fish and seafood.  Not a hint of fish past its prime or, worse, not properly stored.

*Rice is hot and freshly made.

*Topping selections are plenty and very familiar to those who love Poke.

*Sauce is just right.  Not too sheisty and not drenching the whole thing.

*Hand Rolls are made on the spot.  All the same qualities above.

*Kitchen and preparation area are PRISTINE clean.  This is so important for a Poke place since they're serving raw fish.

*Staff are courteous and kind.

Overall, I am so so happy that there is now a reliable and great spot for Poke and Hand Rolls in Highland Park.  If you enjoy Poke or Hand Rolls, come pay this place a visit to see for yourself.

Will definitely be a regular from now on.

*Parking: Plaza lot.  Decent to good.

*Online Ordering: Yes.  See their website.

*Payment: Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay.

*Interior: Clean, pleasant, and cute.  Plentiful...

Nice, clean small business. I liked the vibe, nice music, sunshine through the windows and family style table. I got three hand rolls, which were rolled like burritos rather than cones. They were much more enjoyable to eat like that. I started off with the California hand rolls, which tasted great. I was so happy and excited. Then I tried the tempura shrimp hand roll, and that was also great. 😀 I was so excited to eat the salmon hand roll (as I had saved the best for last), but OMG, was I disappointed. What was that?! It had a fishy tuna taste, not in a good way, and I didn't even want to eat it. Out of curiosity I opened it up to dissect the ingredients and see how a salmon roll could go wrong. 🤦🏼‍♀️ This was no salmon I'd ever seen before - more like remnants or scraps mushed together. Truly awful. I also got the Taro boba milk tea which tasted extremely artificial and unhealthy. That being said, based on the two great rolls, and clean, pleasant restaurant vibe I would come back to try other things...
