My family and I passed by for lunch yesterday as they are new to the area. Queen Kabob is woman owned, woman ran which I always appreciate! I was greeted with a warm smile by one of the owners of the restaurant. I asked what was good on the menu and the owner went through the menu describing each dish to me. You can tell she put her heart into her food just by the way she talked about her dishes.
I ended up getting a cup of lentil soup and the queen combo plate which comes with a beef kofta, chicken skewer, and filet skewer on top of rice with hummus, grilled tomato, and side salad. My dad got the chicken salad. My mom and brother each got the chicken plate. We also ordered arayes with fries to share among the table. When we ordered, we were informed the food would take about 15 minutes since everything is fresh and cooked to order. We were all blown away by the flavor of the food! You could truly taste the freshness in their ingredients. True authentic Middle Eastern food all for a great price.
For dessert, we ended up getting baklava. Truly the best baklava I’ve ever had! It’s definitely a must after your meal to satisfy your sweet tooth.
At the end of our meal, we met the second owner who came and asked about our experience. You can tell both owners are passionate about their restaurant and truly care about their customers.
Safe to say, my family and I will definitely be making this place a regular spot...
Read moreI was surprised to learn how nice this place is. I am not a particular fan of Mediterranean foods, nor of Middle Eastern foods. However, I like good, fresh foods prepared carefully. This place met my needs beyond my expectations.
The woman running the place, perhaps “Georgina”, was friendly and asked me what I was interested in. I told her my stomach was upset so I wanted soup. She said the soup of the day was lentil, something I was not interested in.
She suggested a dish of zucchini squash stuffed with rice and ground beef in a spicy tomato broth, which was not on the menu. It turned out to be a delightful meal. I also tried the dessert made of sweetened cheese and pastry (knafeh), It was exceptional.
If you are obsessed with Middle Eastern or Mediterranean foods, perhaps this is not the right place for you, but if you like good foods prepared freshly this is a great place.
If you are interested in foods you did not grow up with this is a good place to start. The shawarmas, which I haven’t tried yet, really looked good.
For a little more expense than a burger, fries, and cola (which I love) you might go to Queen Georgina and try a healthier option.
I can’t wait to...
Read moreMy mom sister and I were driving on De Soto and saw a bright sign that showed Queen Kabob. We decided to to try it since it’s not a Mediterranean chain restaurant. Greeted when we first walked in, they had mentioned it they have only been open for a little over a week. They have some sweets on the sides (baklava and date stuffed cookies). We got chicken Shawarma, beef Shawarma & chicken kabob plate. They were really big portions. My mom and were only able to finish half of each sandwich that’s how big the shawarma is. Both chicken and beef shawarma were absolutely delicious and authentic. The chicken plate was also good, it comes with chicken, rice, hummus, grilled jalapeño and salad, and we got garlic on the side. The skewers of chicken were tender and moist. The hummus is silky smooth you can tell it’s freshly made. The sweets were so good, the baklava was crunchy and sweet. The place as woman owned and ran. Love supporting...
