Long story short, the owner of this place lacks basic customer service skills and furthermore does not seem to understand how to behave respectfully as a human being. Also, he doesn't really know much of anything about coffee which is disappointing. You can figure that out by just trying to talk to him about it and ask him where he sources his coffee, what kind of beans he has... he says it's comparable to Blue Bottle... I don't know, seems like the complete opposite of Blue Bottle. Don't pick up the gift cards he has to look at them, or consider purchasing one because he'll just pull it right out of your hand like he did to me. Extremely rude and unprofessional owner who seems to not have basic ability to read the room. I sense ego is the reason for this existing and that ego gets in the way of this actually being anything worth your time. You know where you can get coffee comparable to Blue Bottle nearby? Supra. And Supra is literally a block or two away. It doesn't take a lot to have basic common sense and common decency, maybe the owner has some kind of issues with prejudices not limited to race or exterior appearance of a person or some inner self issues they can't help but wear on their sleeve while thinking they're concealing it somehow.
Anyway, after he took the gift card directly out of my hand... I decided not to try this coffee at all. Got back in my Tesla and drove to Blue Bottle where they have good coffee and know what they're talking about and at least aren't disrespectful and oblivious to the levels this owner is. He must have his money figured out and be just doing this for fun or something. Doesn't seem like he's even having fun doing it though. You'd think part of the joy of having some kind of service like this is to connect with the people, not create the negative energy and divisions he does. It took me a long time to stop being irritated by this disrespect and other tense conversation coming from him. Maybe it was an off day for him but, how you do anything is how you do everything. If you're a smart person you'd think building positive relations with people in your neighborhood who have been around and contributed to the success of other businesses right around you would matter to someone with a good head on their shoulders.
You'd think that. Because if someone has a good head on their shoulders they treat all people with kindness and gratitude because you want prosperity and health for your business. Guess this guy doesn't even really think about any of that. You can't be rude to people when you have such a high mountain to climb to succeed in the world of coffee, man. Real ones recognize real ones. Again, Supra is right down the street. What makes a Barista great on top of knowledge of coffee and proficiency of preparation and presentation of it is also having that magic about you and making people feel good! This guys attitude and energy feels like a painful constipation...

Read moreA proper cafe. The best and most consistent flat white I’ve had in this area of town. $5 which is an appropriate amount for a well crafted drink, beans and milk texture are always on point. I would be here everyday if not for working in coffee and being away for their hours of operation.
The owner is genuine and knows exactly what he’s doing. Kind of an inspiration for people who want to open a coffee shop but can’t afford the overhead of a typical American cafe.
You won’t find outlets, nor AC. But there’s some tables and chairs for a date or to catch up with friends in a comfortable setting.
Always a shame that you find great hidden gems when you’re about to move. But when I’m back in this area of town I know...
