I booked a reservation on open table for a group of 6 as we were celebrating my man's 40th birthday and Ruth Chris is one of of favorite resturants. I researched prior to our reservation and saw they had a special celebration option on the menu due to it being Valentine's weekend. It was advertised for the filet steak 6 ounce and 2 lobster tails. I regretabbly have to say for the 1st time ever and trust we have been to several Ruth Chris chains i was not only disappointed in tonight but embarrassed (I planned the dinner party for my man and 40 is a big deal). However, being fair I will list the pros and cons of tonight's experience.
Con: Our reservation was at 9pm, we didnt get sat at our table until 9:30pm and i should add we were all there on time so it was not a situation where they were waiting on our party to arrive. Not only did it take over 30 minutes for us to be seated BUT when we finally were seated we ordered 5 of the promotional 6 ounce filet and 2 lobster tails, also I ordered a lobster soup. We of course ordered the lobster mac and cheese (amazing) and sweet potatoe casserole (another amazing dish). We placed our order around 9:42 pm and when I say we didn't get our food until 10:30 I tell you No lie BUT WAIT THAT IS NOT EVEN THE WORST PART....one of the managers a very beautiful black lady came to our table approximately 30 minutes after our order was placed and informed us that due to so many people ordering the promotion of the filet and two tails they only had 6 tails left which would mean only 3 people of the 5 who ordered would be able to get the tails. My first thought coming from a background in corporate management was NEVER promote a promotional item of any kind and not OVER prepare ESPECIALLY on an ALL STAR- VALENTINE weekend. However, we agreed to accept the 6 tails and stated we would just divide them among the table since it was supposed to be 10 tails as each was supposed to have come with two and in exchange the manager agreed to not charge us for the 2 side order of lobster mac and cheese and 1 sweet potato casserole. So time goes by (literally it took forever, we were the very last people to leave the restaurant and groups that came in after us werw served BEFORE) and when they finally did bring our food IT WAS NOT CORRECT and what was discussed with the manager. We receieved a total of 3 tails instead of six and the other plates came with shrimp and it STILL was not even enough shrimp. We I brought it to the managers attention as we were confused about the shrimp altogether she apologized and informed us the waiter mixed up our order with another table who agreed to substitute shrimp on some of their orders since they too had the same issue of not enough lobster tails to go around. What was worst was my man had no lobster tails or shrimp (eventually the manager brought some out 10 mins later) but it was his birthday and I was thoroughly embarrassed having planned this event and spoke so highly of the restaurant (besides my man and myself the rest of our geoup were 1 time visitors). Needless to say it was very disappointing for such a vwry long wait, we didnt leave til 11pm and wait over 1 hour for our food to only come wrong (DID I FORGET TO MENTION I HAD TO SEND MY LOBSTER SOUP BACK CAUSE IT WAS ICE COLD) but we also waited 30 mins to be seated dispite having had a reservation.
Pro: The side dishes were amazing and the manager and waiter apologized and took off the sides
I hope Ruth Chris learns from this as it was not a good reflection on the...
Read moreMade reservations weeks in advance, the day of had to change our res for 2 guests to 3 because our babysitter canceled last minute. I called the restaurant a couple hours Im advance to request the change to 3 guests, which they did without hesitation. Thank you.
When we arrived at the restaurant Saturday night at 8pm, it was quite busy and a lot of guests were waiting outside. We were immediately greeted by the hostesses in a timely and attentive manor. That makes a huge difference, you want your initial greet to be friendly and fast with a sense of urgency. They also acknowledged we were celebrating a birthday. We waited around 15-20 minutes for the table. I am not sure if this location is a reservation only or if they accept walk ins but it seemed a little long to wait considering we had a reservation, totally understandable however given the busy night however.
The overall ambiance of the restaurant was definitely lacking. We were sat outside in a corner near the edge of the restaurant perimeter. The place overwhelmingly smelled like gas from the heat lamps which is a huge turn off at a high end restaurant when you are trying to enjoy your food. Not to mention the other smells from the parking garage which is quite close too. I was completely disappointed and distracted by the location of our dinning it almost ruined the experience.
To start, the server took a little while to greet us over 5 minutes. Our server was still great and attentive. We ordered the calamari which they were out of the entire week we were told. No big deal, shortages aren’t uncommon. We did opt of of appetizers given that was the only one we desired. For entrees we ordered from their prefix menu which included two lobster tails, Châteaubrand steak, two sides and a desert for two. Our daughter had the medallions and shrimp. Our salads and soups were rang in wrong and the runner was annoyed at the mistake when we asked he correct it. We did not enjoy having him attend to us. The salads were delicious. I do not recommend the Lobster Bisque, it had a very bitter taste which the server admitted he did not like either and offered to change it out. The rest of the meal was delightful. The Châteaubriand steak is known to melt in your mouth most exquisite however, it was a little chewy and on the rare side. (We ordered medium) The highlight was the Blueberry Mojito and the Lobster Tail.
Overall the ambiance wasn’t great, not what I was expecting from this chain, the other locations are phenomenal, I hate to say it, this one is very average. The entrees were fabulous and cooked just right. We will not be back to this location however, would consider giving it a...
Read moreHigh-end, steakhouse chain with 500 degree plates (like, the plates are literally 500 degrees to keep your steaks warm). Came here to celebrate the sis getting a job, and made a reservation for 6:30 on a Sunday. There’s free garage parking, which is nice because street parking would be next to impossible. There were a fair amount of other groups celebrating birthdays, and the dress code is business casual. No midriffs are allowed either, so I had to keep my coat on to hide my crop top. We were seated at a booth, and the chairs were high but you really sink into the booths, so the table might be a bit high for you.
For food, we did enjoy a nice three course meal. The complimentary bread they serve was also fresh and warm, and worth noting. We got the calamari which was like sweet and sour version seafood version of the typical Chinese dish. It was nicely fried and not rubbery at all. I got the crab cakes which came in three, although note by this point I was full of bread and calamari so I feel like I should’ve just gone with the appetizer size which comes in two. It was nicely cooked and had plenty of butter, so I can’t really complain though. The creamed spinach we got as a side is considered a classic dish and was very creamy, but the shoestring fries were a bit disappointing as they were bland. The way it’s served also is awkward because fries kept falling into the table whenever we tried to take some out. The steaks were good and the only difference between them was the cut - the seasoning is all the same. For dessert, we ended with the chocolate duo which had chocolate mousse and chocolate lava cake. The mousse wasn’t too sweet but had too much whipped cream on top. I preferred the lava cake with the vanilla ice cream, although it was pretty small. I also wish that they cleaned the tables in the middle of courses the way they do at Morton’s so that we don’t have to see the remnants of food accidentally dropped (that’s a minor point though). Service was nice and they did come around a couple of times to refill waters, although they were slow to bring out a fourth set of plates and utensils since there were only three set up already but there were four of us. Bathrooms are in the back right behind the large wine wall, and there’s no free WiFi. The little mints they have are like the chickfila mints, so def grab a couple on your way out. Overall it’s a typical experience you’d have at a steakhouse like Morton’s or Flemings; pricey but solid food...
