Sizzler Review: Mixed Feelings, Unlikely to Return
After years of not dining at Sizzler, I was excited to give it another try, but unfortunately, my experience was a bit underwhelming. While the food itself was quite good—my 6oz steak was flavorful and cooked well—the overall experience fell short of my expectations.
Let's start with the positives: the cashier, Rene, was an absolute gem. Her customer service was top-notch, and she was sweet and attentive. When I needed a to-go bag, she was quick to help without hesitation, which made me feel valued as a customer.
However, my interaction with the server left much to be desired. When my mom brought over a couple of mini tacos from the salad bar, the server approached us abruptly, asking for our receipt before she even introduced herself. She then curtly informed me that we only paid for one salad bar and couldn't share. While I understand the policy, the tone of her delivery was off-putting. She later attempted to soften her approach, but by that point, the damage was done.
When my meal arrived, I was only able to eat a small portion due to medical reasons, which I explained to the server when I asked for a to-go box. Her reaction to my request felt uncomfortable, as if I didn't have a valid reason for needing the box. It was Rene, once again, who saved the day by providing me with the bag I needed after the server neglected to bring one.
To top it off, the bathroom had a noticeable sewage smell, which was unpleasant and certainly didn't add to the dining experience.
Overall, while the food and pricing were great, the service left a sour taste. Rene’s exceptional customer service was a highlight, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the uncomfortable interactions and less-than-stellar environment. I won’t be returning to Sizzler...
Read moreI went to Sizzlers for lunch while visiting LA to attend a concert. The restaurant was nicely directed where to go upon entering the doors. As you go inside you'll see the dining area hiding behind a wall, move to the right will be the restrooms for men, women and family. To order, you will see the menu on the wall to view as you wait in line to be helped by a server at the register. You place your order with a server and collect your drink; they hand a tray with your eating utensils and drinks, give you your receipts which one is for the waitress for your order, then walk into the dining area for your choice of seating. There is a salad bar there if you would like to purchase it when ordering. It's a simple process and the food was freshly made and delivered to our table. A few of the people I was with mentioned that the beef patties tasted frozen and cooked, not that fresh meat taste but all can agree that the fries were delicious, fresh and hot. The waiter did an excellent job checking in with us and bringing us additional sauces and refills on our drinks, even offered bread while waiting for our food (which was Texas toast). The menu is like a steak house restaurant so if you like red meats, including ribs, steaks and burgers; as well as, lobster tail head on over. They have chicken selections too, baked potatoes, and vegetables. Desserts like ice cream...
Read moreOrdered the steak (medium) and grilled shrimp combo. Was considering adding the salad bar or even getting just that, but the salad bar wasn’t super impressive - a few types of lettuce and some salad toppings, fried chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, and a few flavors of jello and banana pudding for dessert.
The shrimp wasn’t cleaned very well and there were several chunks of shell on the main part of the shrimp that I had to peel off. The rice was so soaked in lemon that it was inedible.
I ordered my steak medium, and the first time it came out rare. When I got our server’s attention I sent it back. It went back on the grill (after going onto the table and being cut into - MAJOR health code violation) and around 5-7 minutes later came out very well done. I sent it back a second time and they sent out a new steak. Cooked just as rare as the first one.
The cashier, server, and manager were very nice and credited the difference between the shrimp skewers and the steak and shrimp combo, but that’s the only reason I feel this review even deserves a one star instead of the ‘I’m only giving one star because I can’t give zero’ ratings. I hadn’t been to a Sizzlers in many years and we only went because it was close to our hotel at LAX, and based on this visit I would have a hard time recommending...
