Fairly certain this was my first Lebanese experience! while visiting a friend who lived in the area, we strolled up on a saturday afternoon for lunch and were welcomingly greeted by the entire staff (its always a good thing to dine with a local regular everyone knows). i always follow suit with the what the locals get, and i was told its all about the chicken shawarma. shawarma it is!
The plates all come with hefty portions of cabbage salad, several pieces of pita bread, and their famous creamy hummus. loved the salad - crisp, fresh, light. the hummus was probably one of the most flavorful and creamy hummus ive had, and quite dangerous to sample before having the meal arrive (appetite spoiler!). the chicken was tasty...but based on being carved off that massive spit i thought it was gonna be more succulent and moist. i thought it was a tad dry. but all the same, i understand why this plate is all the rage.
The price for a lunch is a bit on the high side but given you get so much included and basically a 2nd meal out of it,...
Read moreWhen I go out for food, I try to find the healthiest food for the best deal possible. Skaf's portions always fill me up and I still somehow manage to have food to take home. I really enjoy the Hommus and Baba Ghannouj to eat my Falafels with because I'm a weird eater like that. I like to cover my Falafels with either (Hommus or the Baba Ghannouj) before eating them instead of using the sauce they provide. I tend to order the Grape Leaves when I really want to have extra food to go (Lunch for the next day!!) which is the best I have ever had!! Besides the Grape Leaves my second favorite MUST have with my meal is the Tabbouli.
If you are Vegetarian (like myself) I totally recommend you try the #14 combo plate. Very filling and it comes with everything I mentioned above (except it doesn't come with Grape Leaves. That's considered a cold appetizer.)
**Side note about the Grape Leaves. You can request them to come out warm, if you happen to stop in on a cold night. They are even better then!!) Yummy. Now I'm thinking of heading...

The Food: The baba ganoush is fantastic and the best I have ever had. Smokey, chunky, creamy and tangy, it goes well with a special order of fried pita bread. The cabbage salad with lemon dressing is light, refreshing and cleansing. Chicken, Beef, Lamb and Shrimp Skewers, are grilled to perfection and always come with tasty pickled radishes and olives. The garlic sauce is perfection. This spread is so good it should be bottled and sold at the local market. It is sharp and pungent adding to the perfectly balanced dishes and specials of the day like Whole fried Bass, Stuffed peppers, and vegetarian dishes. Skaf's has great service combined with fantastic food at a moderate price! Skaf's uses the freshest foods available and has a loyal following. Once you try this eatery you'll be a loyal...
