Slavko's Harbor Poultry — Restaurant in Los Angeles

For anyone who appreciates comfort food at its best, Slavkos Harbor Poultry is a must-visit. This stalwart has been gracing our town for over a century, and their offerings reflect the rich tradition and culinary expertise they've honed over the years.

The standout star on their menu is, without doubt, their fried chicken. Expertly seasoned and fried to perfection, this is a dish that takes you on a flavorful journey from the first bite to the last. The skin is deliciously crispy, the meat succulent and tender – it's quite simply the best fried chicken you'll find in town.

The potatoes and cevapcici are equally impressive, adding a satisfying heft and unique flavor profile that perfectly complements the chicken. I've yet to find another place that does these dishes justice the way Slavkos does.

My only reservation, and the reason for the four-star rating, is the restaurant's ambiance. While the food evokes a sense of comfort and nostalgia, the interior of Slavkos falls somewhat short of that. It's not that it's unpleasant, just that it doesn't quite match the caliber of their food. A more inviting, warm, and modern interior could truly transform the dining experience here. I wish that I could sit and enjoy a meal with friends in the restaurant.

Despite this, I wholeheartedly recommend Slavkos Harbor Poultry for their excellent food. The slight shortcoming in ambiance is easily outweighed by their masterful cooking. Take-out is a great option, but I do hope they revamp the dining area to reflect the quality and tradition they represent. My father and our family and my grandfather and family have been coming to Slavkos ever since I can remember (4 generations). Coming thru those doors brings me back to times spent with my family as a child and now as an adult with my daughter's. My sisters and I have been bringing our immediate family members here for years. Number one reason for me other than being greeted by the kind staff (they must know my face already) ☺️ are definitely the potato nuggets. It's what I have been telling everyone about in my entire life. I've never eaten a better potato nugget. They also sell their own special seasoning that I buy almost ever time I'm out there. I don't live in San Pedro but It's definitely worth the trip. If you visit San Pedro you really shouldn't pass up Slavkos. LAMB!!!!!!!! PORK!!! Our firstst time to Slavko. Friends have come here for years and have brought their wonderful fried chicken and potatoes to dinners. We had their lamb shank which comes with an equally stellar rice dish and their ribs which comes with sweet and savoury baked beans. Both dishes also have their outstanding potatoes. We over ordered as we also added Mac and cheese and coleslaw to our order. The Mac is a good side with the barbeque. The coleslaw was very fresh. Coleslaws was the bright sweetness which elevated the BBQ. We have plenty left over for dinner tonight. It's a San Pedro institution that is worth a drive!
