A Long-Awaited Gem Worth Every Bite – STK Steakhouse (Westfield Topanga) We’ve been eagerly watching the signs go up for STK Steakhouse, counting down the days until their grand opening. So when we found out they’d be opening the same weekend as our anniversary, it felt like the stars aligned. We booked a reservation for Night 2 of their opening weekend, and wow—what a way to celebrate!
Booking online was a breeze, and from the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by smiling hosts and a sleek, stylish ambiance. The lighting was moody yet inviting—perfect for a date night—and there was a DJ playing an excellent mix of tracks that added to the upbeat, yet elegant vibe.
Our server, C, was an absolute standout. She was warm, knowledgeable, and made us feel like VIPs. She was genuinely excited to hear we were celebrating an anniversary and guided us through the menu with passion and precision—even though it was only their second night open! Her descriptions were spot-on, and we felt like we were in great hands.
We started with cocktails—“Hot Honey Smash” for me (sweet, spicy, and beautifully balanced) and the “Not Your Daddy’s Old Fashioned” for my partner (a bold, flavorful twist on a classic). For our appetizer, we had the calamari, which was perfectly crisp and served with a Roasted Garlic & Lime Aioli and an Asian Chili Sauce—each one complementing the dish in different and delicious ways.
For entrées, we shared the Ribeye Spinalis (incredible recommendation from C—tender, juicy, and full of flavor) and the Braised Beef Short Ribs, which were rich and satisfying with a generous portion size. The mashed potatoes were creamy perfection, and even though we had the bacon cider glaze removed from the brussels sprouts (we don’t eat pork), they still packed a punch and had great texture.
To top it all off, the team surprised us with a gorgeous anniversary dessert—cheesecake with fresh fruit, presented with flair and accompanied by genuine cheer from multiple staff members. C even took photos for us to commemorate the night. The staff’s enthusiasm and kindness made our evening truly unforgettable.
STK has set a high bar from the jump. I’m thrilled they’ve opened right here in our neighborhood at the Westfield Topanga, right next to Topanga Social. Parking was a breeze that evening, and we’re already looking forward to coming back to explore the happy hour and try more menu items. Huge thanks again to our amazing server, C, and the entire team—this was a night...
Read moreEdited: we have been back 2 times more for happy hour recently and had much better experiences, so upgrading to 5 ⭐️. The cocktails are amazing, especially for the value at HH, and we have found the STK burger and chips (sub fries for $3) is the best value and option on the HH menu. Plus, we just joined the rewards and excited for the free app and points program that includes a $50 birthday dining credit and $5 after you spend $75 or $10 after you spend $150. Our most recent trip, the hostess, Megan, was great and spent time talking to us and letting us know about the rewards. Our server, Kyle, was also great as was manager, Jason. Looks like they are finding their groove now that they have been open longer. ❤️ we will be back.
We came here to try the new location for happy hour as we live close by and it seemed like a good deal. Although the price on HH seems inviting, and way more affordable than the normal menu prices, the amount you get for each happy hour item is completely minute. We had to order three popcorn chicken (which ended up being the favorite at the table), for $9 each, to get the amount you would get in one order anywhere else and it was basically mini chicken tenders/nuggets with barbecue sauce. I will say that our server, Josh, was super attentive and checked in frequently (exceptional service), and the cocktails were outstanding (great bartenders! And the espresso martini with Bailey’s was a great finish, pictured) but the food was meh. We tried to order the potatoes gratin from the main menu and were beyond disappointed (they did remove them from our bill) as they were undercooked and not great flavor. We also tried the stk & frites (good, not great), the tater tots (needed more salt, but good), the lil brg and fries (although tiny was somewhat tasty), and the wagyu taco (I liked it, my husband and son didn’t). I don’t plan to come back as they didn’t wow us and I’m not looking to spend $300+ on a main meal when there are other steakhouses nearby that do it way better (Ruth’s Chris, Larsen’s and Morton’s for example ). Also, being in the mall, it felt odd to be right next to the movie theatre escalators and shoppers. The inside is super nice and I like the modern 80s aesthetic. Hopefully they can figure out the kitchen and the pricing. Will give it it time before ever...
Read moreIn short: avoid this place if you’re trying to have a positive restaurant experience. The service was terrible, food was okay but extremely overpriced, and the ambience was unpleasant. We had dinner reservations for Mother’s Day and had an extremely disappointing experience. The hostess tried to sit us at the table next to the kitchen, and when we asked for another table she said the wait would be two to three hours. We pointed out that there was an open table for four which she said was reserved for another party. After asking a manager, the manager sat us at the table which the hostess had refused to seat us at. That level of ineptitude remained for the rest of our experience. When we ordered an iced tea and asked for sugar free sweetener, the food runner brought regular sugar and said they didn’t have any sugar free. After asking the waiter for sugar free sweetener too, he did bring some. We noticed that every table around us received bread, even people who had been seated way after us, and after asking if we could get some, we didn’t receive any until after the meal had arrived. When we had looked up the restaurant, two out of the four people in our party had expressed a desire to go to STK to get the salmon dish on the menu, only to arrive and find out it isn’t even on the menu. I will note that the crab cake, corn, and bread were all delicious. However, $63 chicken was bland and the $82 steak was raw in parts/very unevenly cooked (we asked for medium well, but at that point we didn’t care to wait any longer for them to correct the mistake). The music was extremely loud and we had to yell in order to hear each other and it’s in the middle of a mall. This place has a Mastro’s price tag with an Applebees level of quality. Ruth’s Chris, Morton’s and Fleming’s are close by and so much better. I don’t think this place is long for the world unless they figure out the service situation and improve the quality of the food, especially given the price tag...
