They messed up my order two different times and made no attempt to understand and/or clarify what I was ordering. At both times, when I politely and discretely told them that there was an error in my order, they ignored me for the rest of my time there. Honestly, it was absolutely passive aggressive disgusting. They checked on other guests and stayed away from my table. They never even came to me to give me my check. I had to get their attention to pay. The food was delicious, as usual. I came both times ordering potato salad, and they never told me that it was not an option. The first time, they didn't let me sit outside because I wasn't originally ordering Yakitori, but I ended up doing so anyway. It was pricey, but delicious. Although I did not enjoy the okra and the price was high for what you got, but the charred flavor was okay. When they told me there was no potato salad, I still stayed and ordered food, but the young waitress didn't understand that in addition to the Yakitori and appetizers, that I also ordered a bantu box. So I was just sitting there for 30 minutes until she came and asked if there was anything else I needed. She apologized, but put the blame on me. The young man who brought my food also politely blamed me. The dialogue was short and sweet, but cold and rude. It seems simple, but it isn't, and that's why I gave them another chance and came back the same week. This time, I was really happy and ordered the potato salad. I went to the restroom downstairs, lovely and clean by the way, like my last post, and when I came up, I heard the cook or someone speaking in another language, and I thought I heard him say potato salad. When the woman came to me, I said, "No potato salad?" She said, no, we don't have something else (I forgot)... But when my food came out, there was macaroni salad. I said, I ordered potato salad, she said, "we don't have any at this time." Anyway, there was a brief conversation, but I was done. At that point, she never came back to my table and neither did the young man. They did check on the other guests, however. I am a stickler for being discreet, not sending food back, not asking for a bunch of things or making a bunch of requests, so my communication to them was low and extremely brief. The food is so delicious and so consistent (although I never got the potato salad) and I am sad that I will never come back because of their lack of care, kindness, and thoughtfulness. If anyone knows another place with the same quality food,...
Read moreUnfortunately I was underwhelmed by everything. Starting with the service , I asked the person present if I could sit anywhere since there was no one to greet me including him. He said the tables were reserved and that a space on the bar would be available between 10min. I saw a outside sitting clearly available, an asked for the outside and he said it would be a longer wait. Mind you there are very few people at the restaurant. I get seated at the bar order the Chicken Karaage and Ramen. 30mins have passed and all the spots that were empty when I got there are still empty. I ask the person present if they could sit me outside , he replied they would soon, which never happened. The chicken was slimy full of grease from the oil and uncooked fat from being undercooked. Probably due to cooking the chicken at a temperature higher than they should in order to dispatch quicker. The broth from the Ramen was very good, however I didn't enjoy the pork meat. I normally love pork. My server only took my order and was present to charge me, never asked if I wanted water or really followed up. In the end about an hour and 15min after I arrived all the spots and outside seating were still available and had never been used by the "reserved clients". Needless to say I won't...
Read moreI decided to check out Suehiro as I had business in the area. I ordered the special New Year's soup which was excellent - it had mochi, traditional Japanese veggies and chicken. I also ordered Chicken Katsu Curry, which was not the greatest - when served it had that caked look on top of the curry like it had been sitting before it was served (that's not appetizing to my keen senses). I don't know if that was due to it sitting as the other dish was completed or what, but I would pass on ordering curry here again. However, that soup was so amazing and many of the dishes I saw other customers ordering looked terrific. The wait staff were from Japan and were very friendly / good vibes. The atmosphere was pleasant and had many customers enjoying their yummy food. Also, they have lunch specials which are very reasonably priced - I look forward to trying some of those as I most definitely shall return to Suehiro for years to come. Give them a try for authentic Japanese cuisine in...
