I genuinely wonder how this restaurant has such amazing reviews. The food we ordered for Thanksgiving was not restaurant-quality. Where is the flavor?
Their onion rings? Horrible. The fast-food restaurant 'The Habit Grill' that is down the street has crispier, juicier, and bigger onion rings that could easily pass for onion rings in sit-down resturaunt. These onion rings taste like they went to Smart and Final, picked up a pack of pre-made onion rings, and then they baked it. No flavor at all. Very bland.
Their tater tots? Tater tots are grated potatoes that are fried. Their tater tots are just cute little baby potatoes that looked baked. It's not a tater tot. It's a roasted potato. Also, there's no flavor. No rosemary, no salt, no pepper, no oregano. There is no flavor! My standards for tater tots isn't that high. Fry some potatoes and it should taste great without seasoning. Roast some red potatoes and it will also taste great with no seasoning. I genuinely don't know what happened with their potatoes.
Their garlic bread? When you bite into garlic bread, you would expect a punch of butter and garlic. No. It taste bland. It doesn't taste bad. It doesn't taste like garlic bread. It just tastes like chewy bread.
I had their grilled cheese. It was the same bread used for the garlic bread with American cheese. Very lackluster. When I make some grilled cheese, I put butter on the pan, throw on some cheese, and boom instant flavor from the butter. The grilled cheese has no flavor! And if you say grilled cheese isn't meant to have flavor, go to In N Out and order a grilled cheese. The flavor punches you in the face. If fast food places are producing better quality food than a dine-in restaurant, what is going on?
As for the meats, I didn't try any personally. But my meat-eating family did, and again, there is no flavor. It was dry. I really wanted to like this place. Lucille's BBQ is a great. Their meats are so delicious. On top of having an array of sauces on the table to enhance the flavor, their BBQ already has a pack of flavor.
Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere, until they improve their selection. I was very disappointed. First and last visit to this establishment.
On the plus side, their parking is great. The restaurant seating looks clean and the interior is very beautiful. The...
Read moreI work in the area, and BBQ is my favorite food. I love trying new spots, and I despise having to leave reviews that don't celebrate a restaurant.
But after a couple hours I just had to say something. Service is decent, ours was a total sweetheart. Chili size was the best thing there.
The beef ribs were just atrocious however. They were definitely smoked at some point, but definitely not to order. Must have been frozen, thawed and microwaved or reheated using some other way like sous vide. The sauce was good, but its so sugary it seems its made with the purpose of masking the very not fresh beef youre getting. There's no smoke flavor at all in the beef. And my friend noticed the taste was off too. We asked to have them removed and there was no hesitation or inquiring to know what was not liked about them, from the server and the manager who cashed us out. So its clear this place is aware the food is not fresh as true barbecue is. It might be the clientele in the area not caring about how the food is made so the passion and effort may have been skimmed to get cheap uncaring bbq lovers in which is fine, but when its fresh you just know. The ribs were dry and no flavor at all aside from the sauce. This place may have some history buts methods should be history too. If you dont sell enough beef ribs to make them fresh to order, just take them off the menu and stop offering them. Its disrespectful to the craft. You can tell there is no passion in them. If the place is never busy that must be why. Good food sells itself and flies off the shelves. I hope you guys fix them though. I love seeing places be successful for good reason. History alone should not be why its still open. When the food gets better I'd love to give it a second chance. If management could reach out to me when that happens Id love to hear from you. A great place for bbq you should look to is Smoke and fire in paramount and Moo's craft bbq in...
Read moreI don't like to give bad reviews, but I have some similar thoughts to others who have reviewed this place recently. The lovely gal at the front was so sweet, kind, friendly, etc. I liked that many of their waitresses would ask if we were served to make sure that we taken care. You definitely get that warm and fuzzy hospitality feel from their staff that I loved. The place's decor is on the older side but I think it gives it charm. I love all the bears everywhere! So cute! Everything up until this point would be an easy 5 star. But the food part is where it's not as amazing as their staff is. Prices are bit pricey in my opinion but you do get a lot of meat, so that's fine by us. We definitely had plenty for leftovers. But sadly most of the food was kind of lacking in seasoning. The BBQ chicken needed all the sauce you could because sadly the chicken itself just wasn't great by itself. I've also never ordered the BBQ chicken at a restaurant and had to put the sauce on myself, which is fine, I don't mind doing it but maybe that's why it's a different flavor than other places who have the sauce already on the chicken before they bring it out. I love the concept of the fried potatoes, but sadly they needed something - salt, butter, etc because they were quite bland. Unlike others on these reviews, I actually liked their beans quite a bit, it was probably my favorite part of the plate. Their garlic bread was more like cheese bread. But that was fine. Overall the place was very cute, staff was kind, large parking lot, good portions of food, but the food was...
