☆☆☆☆☆ 5-star review “Underrated gem with killer curry & noodles!” Stumbled upon this underrated eatery on Moorpark St., and I can’t believe more people aren’t raving about it! The green Thai curry here is legitimately some of the best in Los Angeles—creamy, aromatic, and perfectly balanced with fresh chilies, Thai basil, and tender vegetables. Every spoonful is a flavor bomb. The drunken noodles (pad kee mao) are another standout. Beautifully stir-fried flat rice noodles loaded with bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, carrots, and heaps of fresh basil and chili—just the right level of heat and so satisfying . I’ve also seen praise online for the yellow curry and outstanding service. Yelp reviewers note the casual, friendly vibe and describe the service as “great food. Great service.” (). TripAdvisor users highlight that “everything was fresh and delicious” with “very polite and unobtrusive” staff . What truly elevates this spot is Joy, the owner—her service always comes with a smile. She makes you feel like an old friend, checks in with impeccable warmth, and genuinely cares that you’re enjoying your meal. Her hospitality is hands-down the best thing about The Dish. If you’re craving bold Thai flavors (especially that green curry and drunken noodles) served with genuine Southern California hospitality, this place is a true hidden gem.

IF YOU VEGAN DO NOT GO HERE. I never leave any review, but today I stopped for lunch at this cafe and got reason to make a debut. I am a vegan, I asked if they have a vegan option. I took buddha basil vegetables with rice and vegetable soup. There were small pieces of chicken in the soup. While I was taking pictures, a cockroach ran over me in the direction of his “home” behind the seat. Sorry for the blurry photo, he was fast. I knew that in such a place it was useless to prove something, so I just said before leaving that they had chicken in the vegan soup. The waitress just smiled. After two repetitions about the problem, she said - “sorry about it”. Besides that the restaurant is wonderful.

Want to give this place a boost because Google maps doesn't seem to know its exists. Got the lunch special. It was a lettuce salad with a tangy peanut dressing, a good sized entree portion with rice and an egg roll, not pictured ( I was hungry 😋) for $11.95, I think. Very good deal! Food was fresh and tasty. I ordered it medium spicy which I didn't think was spicy at all but I'm a spicy girl so if you like spicy I think you can go full spicy here and you'd be fine.

There were many things that went wrong with our meal. To start, we were the only people in the restaurant. We were kinda strapped for time because one person in our party had a business meeting in an hour, but it shouldve been plenty of time to eat and go. When we got there the waitress was nowhere to be found and we waited about five minutes for her to appear and seat us. Then it took insanely long to get our drinks and order our food. At first it took ten minutes to get two small cups of starter salad, something that shouldve taken 30 seconds per bowl. After that there was a soup of the same size that took an additional ten minutes. Then we sat for another twenty minutes waiting for the dishes to arrive, but then only one came. each meal came one by one with like ten minutes in between. At this point we were really strapped for time and the two people who got their dishes 30 minutes after the first dish came had to eat super fast. I have to emphasize the fact that we were the only people in there, so it shouldve been so much faster. And the service wasn't even the only thing that was sub par. I got pad see ew which is usually very saucy and flavorful, but this was barely sauced at all and only had like three pieces of tofu on it, and the noodles were really sticky. My boyfriend got pra-ram which he said tasted like canned food. Everyone's dish had veggies that had been steamed and then added after the fact to the plate, instead of cooking the veggies with the noodles etc. The veggies were floppy and wet. Even the Thai iced tea was weird. The last thing was that this very weird guy was loitering around the restaurant making a point that he was only in there for the AC (it was 106 F) which is fine but when he started talking to us and asking questions it became weird and annoying. Tldr; poor service, mediocre food, weird...

Somewhat a mixed bag - but overall, if it was in my local area, I would NOT visit the place again. We ordered a couple of dishes - one was a vegetable stir fry and another one was eggplant. Both were asked to be made Thai Hot. The vegetable stir fry was bland - we were suggested to add the chili powder. Clearly, these people don't understand how to add chili during cooking and how that taste is totally different than just sprinkling chili powder. The eggplant dish on the other hand was as good as any that I have had elsewhere.

We also ordered Fried rice later and asked to hold the eggs. Unfortunately it came with eggs - the hostess apparently forgot to communicate to the cook. And this is where the main problem is. When we ask hostess to communicate our dietary preference - e.g. no egg/fish/oyster sauce, we expect that to be communicated. Otherwise, they are bringing to your table whatever they feel like. Breaking that trust is an absolute NO-NO for me - I never visit such places again.

Finally, to make the matters worst - even though the menu states that white/brown rice is included with the entree, we were charged extra for the brown rice. On pointing that out, we were given a refund - but I shouldn't...
