DELICIOUS food and drinks. HORRIBLE service. (Yamashiro Hollywood location)
Food: 5/5 Service: 1/5 Total score 2/5 because honestly the service was pretty awful.
-Hostess was great! I would give her 5/5, she was nice and kind to everyone. -Bartender was good! Standard service, 5/5 for making us those unique special virgin cocktail drinks. -Waitress was pretty bad. I would give her 0/5 - took a long time to finally take our orders, rarely came by to check up on us, had to ask for waters twice, asked for a box when we were finished but she never came back (maybe her shift was over, who knows). -Waiter who gave us our check wasn't that great either. Asked for box, he never came back.
I would say that I am a patient, calm, kind person. But the waitress and waiters probably could care less that I was there. My sister and I also appeared to be the only Asians there so maybe that could be why too? Who knows.
FYI: I read many reviews prior to going and was aware of the long wait! Still wanted to try nonetheless.
-We got there at 1:30pm (on a Saturday, not a holiday), the hostess told us that there was about a 40 minutes wait for seating. In the meantime, we could wait/sit in a separate garden area for drinks. -We both ordered a special virgin cocktail juice drink. It was very delicious and the bartender was good! What's cool is that all menus are via mobile/online and payment! -We actually got seated very quickly, around 2pm! So we ended up waiting only 30 minutes. It went by fast since we had to wait in line to order and get drinks! -Got seated outside. We asked if we could be seated by the railing but were told we couldn't even though one was open. (What later happened is shortly after we asked, two other girls just moved their stuff from another table and sat there... didn't look like they asked anyone and the staff didn't say anything to them. So sad, oh well). -Waitress didn't say hi or get our orders until 20 minutes later. Good thing we got our own drinks from the bartender! -We ordered the banananana pancake to split as well as a side order of potatoes. -We didn't get water until another 20 minutes after ordering. Again, good thing we had our cocktail juice drink! -Our food came 35 minutes after ordering. A different staff member served us our food (not our waitress). -Food was HUGEEE! Very yummy because we were hungry haha. The potatoes were good too! -When we were finished, we politely asked the waitress for boxes. She never came back. -A different waiter later came and gave us our check, we politely asked for boxes, he never came back. -We then asked a kind man who was cleaning up a table next to us for boxes, he came back IMMEDIATELY (thank god for him!) -We paid via...
Read moreWe had breakfast at The Griddle Café on two different mornings during our trip to LA, and both times, we walked out happy (and very full). This place totally lives up to its reputation — big portions, bold flavors, and a vibe that’s so LA.
On our first visit, I ordered “The Golden Ticket” pancakes — a heavenly creation filled with bananas, caramel, walnuts, and streusel, then topped with whipped cream, more caramel, and streusel. Absolutely delicious, but here’s a heads-up: the pancakes are HUGE. They serve three, but I could barely finish half of one.
It's a dessert-meets-breakfast kind of dish and totally worth it.
My husband got “Mom’s French Toast”, and he hasn't stopped talking about it since. Thick slices of egg-dipped bread, cooked just right, with powdered sugar and whipped butter on top. It’s labeled “life-changing” on the menu — and he actually agrees. He says it’s the best French toast he’s ever had, and honestly, I believe him based on how fast he finished it.
The next day, I went savory and got the “Omelette My Soul” with shrimp. It came loaded with green chiles, jack cheese, avocado, sour cream, and pico de gallo — basically everything you’d want in a hearty, flavorful breakfast. Again, massive portion and super filling. I couldn’t finish it, but every bite was delicious.
Service both days was quick, friendly, and efficient — even with the café being busy. The staff seemed used to the rush and handled everything with a smile.
If you're in LA and love breakfast food that’s over-the-top in the best way, The Griddle Café is a must-visit. Just make sure you come hungry — and maybe share a dish unless you're really...
Read moreFirst off I would like to say the food here is amazing and I highly recommend the food. It's huge proportions and great quality and the Griddle accommodated for my dog which I appreciate it.
However the service here is probably the worst service I've encountered. The host barely greeted us or didn't tell us how long the wait time was, it was just our name, number and go outside. It was raining when we visited and I came with my senior aunt who wanted to wait inside but the host girlfriend was sitting in one of the two seats available and he directed her to go outside. When one of the seats became available, we just noticed the host playing uno with his girlfriend where she got to sit inside and guests had to stand outside. When my aunt finally got to sit inside she watched other guests who walked in got a table right away and every-time we asked what our wait time was he kept saying we were next for over 20 minutes. When we finally got our table, he didn't even tell us which one, so we were standing there confused where to go. About our server Rob, we only saw him three times: to ask for our order, deliver our drinks and to give us our check. He never checked in on us, check how the food was or offer refills on our drinks. We watched every other server check on their tables and even had to ask them for help because our server was non existent. It was our first time dining in and our last time because my family and I never want to go to a restaurant where we're non existent and not treated right. I highly recommend to order take out and avoid the...
