Yuppie gentrified bartenders that ignore you unless you're the right color. I came to this place on the weekend around 4pm. Everything was going great. My friend kept going up to get us drinks, on my card. She was attended quickly. Once I was ready to close my tab I went up to the bar. I was standing waiting for these tall hipster yuppies to attend to me. Cool. I understand other ppl came first and they need to be serviced before me, but when the person that got to the bar before me, after she puts in her order, she gets asked twice if she needed service by another yuppie hipster bartender. It took this lady to point out that I was there waiting to get service. I really felt uneasy and unwanted at this establishment. If you're white I could see how this place would be 5 stars. But for a poc bring your white friends to order for you. So, sad they gentrify our communities than treat us like second...
Read moreThe Hermosillo is a York staple. It has a chill and unpretentious attitude. Drinks are normally priced, not really cheap but fine. The food however is a pretty great deal imo. A burger for $9 or double for $11 is literally fast food prices, and they are like as if your dad made you one a grill in 2004 when all we had to worry about was the war on terror. The fries are $7 but could easily feed three people. Really wish they had a small fry for $3, but they don’t, but if they did later, I’m taking credit. hahaha
Biggest drawback: all the god damn kids. Listen, if you’re reading this and you have kids, go nutz, I’m happy that you have a place you can bring your kids and they can have recess with the other kids while you drink. However at times, like midday weekends, it can feel like getting drunk at a daycare. Which is not the vibe. Generally if you just sit in side you don’t have to deal with...
Read moreSo I came here with my friends Friday night, got a beer and we went to sit outrside where there were other people chillin drinking smoking and all that. We were there for about 30 minutes then some dude who I assume works here tells us that we had to leave the patio cause it was "closed". Yet he only went up to us and not the other huge group. They themself was on the patio drinking with a group of women at the patio yet we had to leave apparently. We stayed put as no one else left and then a woman went up to us like an hour later to tell us to leave and again, they only told us. I've lived in Highland Park longer than any of these people here and I am so disgusted how they treated us considering we were minding our own business having a good time. I dont know why they decided to specifically want us to leave but if your a Highland Park OG, go...
