10 years ago, I stumbled on the first Paulie’s location on Beverly. Absolutely fantastic, the food, the service and Paul was always there, keeping things up to standard. Unfortunately, that location burned down and they moved a short distance away.
I have picked up food at the new original location on W. 3rd Street for years and have always been pleased withe the service and food.
Today my wife and I ordered from the Studio City store and were disappointed with the entire experience. I had the Jonny, roast beef, and the meat was not bite through. Several bites had gristle that pulled the meat from the bread when I bit into the sandwich dangling on my face (gross). The bread also seemed a little off, not stale, not fresh, a bit over processed. I ended up throwing half of the sandwich away.
Also they mixed too much balsamic vinegar with the horseradish sauce, causing sandwich to taste a little sour. We ordered cookies, but apparently they ran out, which was very odd. From our order alone, the owner lost 10 bucks on one sale for the lack of cookies.
When I picked up the food, I started to leave and realized the bag seemed a bit light. When I looked inside, my wife’s sandwich was missing. I went back, of course, and retrieve the sandwich which my wife was happy with.
The store seemed poorly run, the employees were confused and the extraordinary care that the other stores put into their food was not evident in studio city.
I would encourage Paul to go check this place out and maybe whip it in into shape. There were no design elements, it felt more like a Subway Sandwich shop...
Read moreYesterday afternoon, I decided to try the Carmela sandwich, but shortly after indulging, I found myself in a terrible state of illness. The food poisoning I experienced was undoubtedly a result of the rancid ingredients in the Paulies sandwich, as it was the only meal I had consumed all day.
When you shell out $20 for a sandwich consisting of merely two slices of bread, mozzarella, and roasted red peppers, you expect nothing less than the finest ingredients. I’m more than willing to pay premium prices for high-quality food, but what I received led to an entire night filled with vomiting, nausea, and abdominal cramps.
I've sampled questionable street food in various corners of the globe, and never have I encountered food poisoning this severe. While I recognize that this establishment has a solid reputation and may occasionally serve a decent sandwich, I would never take the risk of dining here again—especially with Gino’s just down the block, which offers superior service, a better atmosphere, and, evidently, cleaner food.
Overall, my experience at Paulies was the worst dining experience I've ever had, and I cannot recommend it to...
Read moreUncle Paulie's COMPLETELY FELL OFF, ACROSS THE BOARD. The service AND the food are TERRIBLE now! Used to be 10x better, what happened here? The employees are RUDE AS HELL too and couldn't care less about their job. Walked in yesterday afternoon to a line out the door only because the people working were just standing around behind the counter not doing anything! The guy in the front of the line kept poking his head around the corner and they completely ignored him! He finally got someone's attention for us after shouting hello a couple of times and then the employee was rude to him and everyone else in front of me! When I placed my order the young guy in the backwards hat and the black hair couldn't be more miserable and dismissive towards me, like I'm interrupting his day by walking in, what a punk! When I got home and we started to eat our sandwiches they were SO DRY AND SALTY?? Portion sizes half of what they used to be?? We were so excited to have Uncle Paulie's because it's been a while since we had it last, but now WE'RE...
