Four stars doesn't mean I don't recommend Vegan Glory, or that I won't return. The restaurant is cute, the staff is attentive, and the food is tasty.
However, the portions are small and the plating seemed a bit careless. I ordered the basil leaves with "chicken" dinner special. A bowl of veggie soup came first. It was fine. Then the entree arrived with salad, brown rice, and a spring roll.
OK, the spring roll might have been the best I'd ever had! Perfectly crispy but not over-fried, and stuffed full of tofu and vegetables.
The salad was fresh but tiny... About 15 leaves of mixed greens with one cherry tomato.
A nice amount of basil leaf chicken was included. It had good flavor but wasn't spicy like the menu indicated; I asked for chili paste. It was comprised mostly of fresh, crunchy bell peppers. However, it was watery, which made the chicken soggy. This wasn't sauce–it was just water, from cooking I guess, that would have been better poured off before serving.
My gripe about the rice is how little there was: an ice cream scoop-sized ball. Rice is cheap! Serve more! That would be an easy way to make the dinner special more substantial.
I appreciated the staff's attentiveness, and the quick service. But I would have waited to have the not-sauce drained from the entree. My bill came to exactly $12, which is reasonable. But I don't treat myself to dinner for "reasonable," and that's why I give four stars. Bigger portions or more thoughtful preparation would earn Vegan Glory a fifth.
Also: it's $3.50 to park in their lot during dinner hours. Avoid this by driving one block north to Oakwood Avenue, where there's ample two hour...
Read moreI had a terrible experience there. The people were really nice who worked there. Although, I ordered the orange peel chicken and it literally came swimming in sauce. On the walk back to my car, the entire bag leaked all over my pants and shoes, literally everywhere. And I was just walking, didn't tilt the bag in any direction at all. I had to take it back to Vegan Glory, to which one of the waiters said they leave holes in the top of the plastic container to keep it crispy! Yet they say nothing about this when they hand it too you, and its literally swimming in sauce. They even re-wrapped it in plastic when I took it back, and sauce was still all over the place in the bag. When I got home I had to try and transfer it to a real tupperware. Just ridiculous the way they serve the food. They originally gave it to me in a cheap plastic to go box with holes on top and put it in a brown paper bag!! Too cheap to get a proper tupperware that won't leak, yet handing you food swimming in sauce with holes on the top of it and saying nothing. Nice people, decent food, but they need to get there act together and button it...
Read moreI've been here twice now. My first visit I ordered a glass noodle with vegetables and soy chicken. I liked it a lot but decided on the lunch combination special instead. I ordered the yellow curry with soy chicken which came with a very good side of coconut soup (I didn't drink the broth but the veggies with the sweet milk were surprisingly delicious) The combo meal also came with a deep fried spring roll, cup of brown rice and a tiny salad. Everything was good but the highlights were the soup, dressing on the salad and the soy chicken bits. The curry was too spicy for me (I have a very low tolerance for spice though so I'm sure most people would disagree).
The potatoes were kind of hard so I didn't like those but the onions and carrots were decent. I don't love brown rice but for the price $9.76 (including tax) I was very satisfied.
The place isnt crowded on a sunday afternoon which is nice and the tables are clean. The staff was attentive and I don't really have any complaints. I would return since I'm usually in the area but I probably wouldn't go far out of my way to eat...
