I got married in September 2024 and a lot of my east coast guests stayed at the Beverly Laurel as it was one of the more affordable options. Unfortunately, this came at a major cost. I should have known this place would be a miss when it took me weeks to get in touch with the GM, Jospeh Todisco. I went to the place in person, called and left VMs, and emailed. After a ton of silence, he finally emailed me back about a wedding blockâŚyes, I was trying to give this place business at the get go. Their lack of interest should have been a major red flag.
My elderly grandmother arrived to find out there was no elevator (oh well!) and had to traverse multiple staircases to arrive at her room. There were other guests with physical limitations who also struggled to get to and from their room. The biggest issue was the insane pop-up that was being hosted at the hotel without any prior notification to the guests. Barbie x Stanley occupied the pool area, the lobby, and the corridors of the hotel. At one point I had to ask the production team to move stacks of boxes that were blocking the stairwell to my families rooms. The guests of the hotel were bullied out of using the one amenity (the pool) so that synchronized swimmers and people obsessed with Stanley cups could come watch (yes, the actual event was ticketed). The hotel didnât care, didnât do anything to make it right, and despite profuse complaints, failed to refund money for amenities that were not available. Guests had to tip toe around to get into their rooms while members of the film crew glared at them as if they were scum ruining their production. The hotel didnât even give their guests the copious amount of leftover merch from the event and instead hoarded it in a back room.
The rooms were gross and filthy. What a huge shame that was, this building is a historic relic and could be so beautiful with the right care. Brown gunk coming down the walls of one of my guests rooms as the air conditioner was on the fritz and leaking brown fluids. The carpeting was worn and dirty. One of my guests windows had what appeared to be a bullet hole through it. Another one of my guests has a shower window that looked straight into an active construction site.
Hoping one day this part of LA history is lovingly restored to a point where I could recommend it to anybody. It would need the greatest overhaul, starting with the hospitality team. At this juncture, wouldnât recommend a night here to my...

The pictures you see in the web are nothing like the reality, the mayor sight was down. Then once in the room starting from the carpet, bathroom, broken plugs, lamp next to mini bar, leaf overs in the mini bar, ants on the desk, hairs every where in our bathroom, very dirty closet and after leaving I checked the bed sheets and they had blood stains, stains on the towels and I can keep goingâŚ
I really expected so much from your property, the lady in the front desk the first night she try to help us but clearly she didnât knew what to do, a change of room wasnât a option Iâm not sure if it was because they were sold out or she didnât knew how to do it.
In the morning a receptionist in SHORTS, after everything that happened the night before, ask me to put the towels I bou the staff the next day wasnât very kind or helpful, obviously they didnât pass the information between them. taking it himself, that was a breaking point for me.
We spend a lot of the time that we could have been sleeping but instead we spend the all night cleaning and disinfecting the room
The last night we when to made the payment, and I canât remember the name of the receptionist but clearly he didnât know how to control his frustration when we ask why we have a double charge, the one the manager adjusted for us and the total of the room of what we booked. He wasnât inform, he told us to contact the manager directly instead to help us and bring a good service and help us to contact him.
We didnât know anything about the final amount of our payment and he could not help or give a good answer about that, he got very frustrated and whet your the corner of the front desk practically leaving us talking to the security guy⌠what kind of front desk...

EDIT: The hotel management apologized for the bedbugs and refunded the full amount. We are in hospital at the moment because of an allergic reaction to the bedbugs. I raised the stars from 1 - 3 because i think this is a positive reaction, but from the actual point of view not an accurate solution. They wrote that the room is now under quarantine and the exterminator is there for resolving the bedbug problems. I will keep posting what the final settlement will be. So far thanks to the management. It could be a 5 star rating if (besides the bedbugs) little things would be changed.
We stayed for 10 nights and I am not a person that complains. Usually I don't rate with 1 star and let it go. My wife, and both my children were bitten by bedbugs. After we started investigating bedbugreports in the internet we could find that this issue is in this "hotel" since 2005 over and over again. So they never really took care of it. Besides this i was charged 24$ per night (240$) for parking but I have no car. It was only taken off after the guys figured out that the parking guys constantly received a wrong room number. The house keeping hanged a "do not disturb" sign on our door so they could officially skip cleaning. But our sign was in the room. The house cleaning NEVER VACUUM CLEANS the rooms while you are booked in. Nice with 2 little children after visiting Venice beach and sand on the carpet. One time experience-...
