Hello,
I never experienced such a horrible experience at Yamato until last Saturday.
From the minute my family and I arrived, the "manager", Kimberly, was flat out rude.
When we arrived, we were greeted then she said "one minute"
a couple of minutes passed by and I asked my mom, "how long is the wait?" She said "I'm not sure, the woman just told me to wait one minute" So she went up to Kimberly and asked how long the wait was.
Kimberly immediately raised her voice (which was unnecessary) - shouting, she said "YOU WALKED AWAY!!!! YOU DIDN'T TELL ME HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE IN YOUR PARTY"
My mom ignored her rude behavior. She then had us seated (there was a total of 6 people).
When my sister was about to sit down on the left end of the table, Kimberly YELLED - "SIT ON THE OTHER SIDE."
My sister and I were very puzzled but we followed her directions anyway.
When Kimberly passed by again, I asked her for her NAME. She responded with a loud and rude tone, "I'M THE MANAGER"
I then softly told her, "your name, not your title" She gave me a dirty look and said "Kimberly."
She then brings a RANDOM party of 2 to OUR table. The woman and her daughter seemed just as confused as my family and I. My dad then asked why we had to share a table.
Kimberly ignored his question and demanded the party of 2 to sit down. I then told her that out of the many times we've dined at Yamato, we NEVER shared a table with anyone, no matter how small our party was.
She ignored what I said and walked away. When the waitress came, my dad then decided he did not want to dine at a restaurant where customers are disrespected. So we got up and left.
Before we left, I asked Kimberly for her last name and she just kept repeating "I'm the manager."
I have NEVER had such a bad experience ANYWHERE. If she really is the manager, I think she needs to attend a few customer service courses. Kimberly not only made the customer feel belittled, but she made the customer leave.
I don't think I have ever walked out of a restaurant due to poor service.
The restaurant was completely dead too. It would have been a different scenario if it were rush hour and they had no where else to seat the other party, but that was not the case.
She also DEMANDED us to share a table. Not once did she ask us if it was ok to have a random pair of people sit with my family and I.
This is such a disappointment because my mom adored this place. This was our go-to family restaurant.
It obvious that Yamato is very prejudice and we will no longer dine at Yamato. I made sure to share my experience on Yelp as well.
A woman who's on a power-trip should NOT manage a restaurant, let alone be in a customer...

I hope this message finds you well. I feel compelled to share my recent experience at your establishment, as it was quite disheartening.
Firstly, I must express my disappointment with the customer service provided by your manager, Kimberly. As someone who manages over eight offices, I have never encountered a manager who was as inconsiderate and unprofessional. A key responsibility of a manager is to resolve issues and provide constructive solutions, rather than offering a free appetizer as a response to a significant problem.
Let me explain what happened:
This past Friday night, my husband took our two young children to your restaurant, looking forward to the pre-show that your chefs typically present. Unfortunately, when my husband noticed that the chef was absent, he took the children—both under the age of three and a half—to the bathroom. This process took approximately ten minutes. Upon returning to the table, he discovered that the chef had already prepared 90% of the meat without any prior performance.
When my husband inquired if there would be a show, the chef did not respond. Being naturally shy, my husband did not press the issue further. Meanwhile, our children were upset, leading him to take most of the food home.
The next day, when my husband shared this experience with me, I was livid. Not only did we spend a considerable amount of money, but our children were left disappointed by the lack of service.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and consider the impact that such experiences can have on...
Read moreIf I could give less stars I would. I've been coming here for over 10 years and this place has gone downhill! I just had a late lunch here today and both my boyfriend and myself have food poisoning it feels like. We ate at the tepan grill and the carrots were sour! They were bad and they served them anyway. We're both in and out of the bathroom and barely made it home! The cook didn't cook the food right and my steak, which should have been MEDIUM RARE was cooked into beef jerky! The shrimp was cooked so long and was done 10 minutes before the rest of the meal that it was like rubber and dry and cold. This was the WORST experience! I drove up from south of Irvine in OC to this place that used to be great but now it's not. The carrots are absolutely rancid and the men's bathroom had what looked like sewer water all over the floor. This place is so overpriced and clearly neglected. They couldn't even be bothered to proofread the menu when they had it printed to reflect their seriously inflated prices. Unless of course there really is something called "chichen" that they serve. The top combo is apparently "chichen." I'll never spend my money here again. I'll definitely call the health...
