Zen Buffet — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I was really hesitant to give this place a 4-star rating, since it really deserves a 5-star. The service needs to be re-trained or re-hired. I had went on a day when it's busy and when its slow. The service remains the same: horrible. It is the one reason why I don't order any special drinks that require refill except for water, because the service is slow. When they pick up the dirty plates from the table, it's even slower like a snail. The food being refilled will depend if it's busy. If it's a slow day, they will take their sweet time to refill the food. But this place still deserves a 4-star rating because the food choices here are much better than any asian buffet I have been to. There are asian buffets out there are just plain horrible. They also have a reward program here, so make sure you ask the staff about it. The more points you accumulate will be rewarded for a free meal. All in all, they just need to re-train their employees if the staff wants a good tip and if they want us loyal customers...

This place suffers from the same problem that plagues many Chinese buffets. When it's packed, the food is decent, because it's being changed out and fresher. When it's empty, you get a bunch of unsanitary crap that's been sitting under heat lamps for hours. But even when the food is fresh, the Chinese food is mediocre at best, and the sushi is half assed and falling apart. Typical Chinese buffet. ...

Zen Buffet is now Sumo Asian Buffet and Grill and it's suffered from the change. It's really gone downhill. The food was bland. The miso soup tasted watered down. Some of the sashimi was frozen. The service was slow. Many of the trays in the buffet were empty. Need I go on? This is our last visit...
