Iām saddened to write this review as Iāve long been a local patron Zooies for many years now. First and foremost, I have no complaints about the cookies. The baked goods are great and Iāve overindulged in them through the years as I watched this place grow from a hole in the wall that Iād tell my friends about to the institution it is now. However, the main reason I always came to Zooies was the customer service.
Many a late night or early morning, Iād wander into the shop and be greeted with the smiling faces of familiar people behind the counter, who came to know my name as I did theirs. Through recent years though, Iāve watched their numbers dwindle and had to hear unfortunate stories from staff about how they were treated. The final straw came yesterday when I arrived at the store and was told the last of these staff members, the longest employed, was fired without warning or cause. Of course Iām on the outside looking in at this situation, but I tend to side with an honest working person whoās been kind to me versus their employer who never once greeted me when I was in store and has made the people who make their business possible feel lesser.
Itās sad to see something that I know is a family business lose track of their roots and the people who got them to where they are. Ultimately, Iāll choose kindness for others any day over a cookie, no matter how good it may be. As is such, Zooies has lost a good customer, though Iām sure they wonāt care as the bottom...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually come to this place in the morning. Pre-pandemic before or after dropping my kids off at middle school thru high school. It is amazing how they have a higher number of employees and yet there service is horrible. The young lady that was the cashier was very helpful but the assortment that was on display did not match what was in there baking trays. I did not understand but itās ok, many more to choose from. I also wanted a large coffee, but they refused to make me one because they had cleaned the machines, mind you it was an 1.5 hours before you officially closed. So I asked if they could make a fancy one like a latte that machine was also cleaned thinking perhaps maybe they are all in the mood for an up sell. I was shot down again. I was however offered decaf or a cold drink from the gas station assortment. To which I replied decaf is not coffee I can just walk across the street to the sbux, thank you. Get back to your base Zooies you lost your high standards. The gentleman that was next was just as confused kept asking for different cookies and the staff kept telling him repeatedly we donāt have those,we have these.
Wonāt return, unless I want a cold...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently had the pleasure of trying Zooies cookies, and I must say, they are a game-changer. The quality is unmistakable - fresh, rich flavors in every bite. I love all of the cookies but the real star for me is their peanut butter and jelly cookie. It's like a delightful trip down memory lane, but with a gourmet twist. These are cookies that demand to be savored, each bite filled with the obvious love and care put into their making.
Another reason I'm a fan of Zooies cookies is their availability for those late-night cravings. After a long day or a demanding week, thereās nothing more rewarding than treating myself to these yummy cookies. The convenience of being able to indulge in Zooies treats, even at midnight or until 2 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is a real luxury. It's those moments, savoring a Zooies cookie in the quiet of the late night, that make the experience truly special. Itās not just about the cookies, itās about the comfort and satisfaction they bring when you need it most. Eating a Zooies Cookie feels like a warm hug in every bite.
If you haven't tried Zooies cookies, you're missing out on what I consider the best cookies...
