Nobuko Japanese Sushi Restaurant — Restaurant in Louisiana

Brought my elderly Japanese mom for lunch because Nobuko is a Japanese name. I was trying to find Japanese restaurant that actually serves authentic Japanese food. Nobuko is more of a Chinese restaurant trying to make sushi. We both ordered shrimp tempura bento box, and were disappointed. The california roll was not made using sushi rice. The shrimp tempura was fried with very thick batter, and came with sweet/sour sauce instead of tempura sauce. Egg rolls & fried rice are not usually part of any bento box in authentic Japanese restaurants I’ve ever been. The fried rice was bland; no taste. Dirty goldfish tank inside front entrance with green algae, and gaudy ceiling decor. Would have rated “0” if that option was available; rated “1” only because the miso soup was good, and mom liked the eggroll. We will not...

I ordered their steak hibachi and thought something was wrong with myself at first because I couldn't believe steak could taste that horrible (definitely frozen and probably wasn't thawed out properly, no salt). Fried rice was more like dried rice. Noodles were overcooked and unpleasant to chew on. Then I realized they forgot to serve me my salad but at that point I was afraid I would further disappoint myself. Sushi wasn't rolled properly so it was impossible to pick up without it falling apart. Restaurant was very confusing to enter because they've closed off 4 out of the 5 entrances they have. I originally thought it was under construction and was going to head back into my car until the server opened one of the locked doors for me. As someone who worked there for one day, seeing the absolute disgusting methods in the kitchen of these rude people made me not want to return. The knives—that were used to cut chicken and other food without being washed (cross contamination)—were wiped with the same rag that wiped the dirty counter and sauce off of dirty buckets. The scale also weighed the wet chicken directly, and was wiped with the dirty rag. Noting was ever cleaned properly. This is an obvious brewing ground for germs and a violation of health. No wonder they failed the cleanliness part of their health inspection! All of the food that isn’t sushi is also just frozen and refrigerated and slapped into a microwave. I would not recommend...
