I went to Puccino's on West Esplanade this morning around 10:30 with my daughter. We attempted to order the "Go Go Grits," but we were confused by what came with it. The menu just says add spinach, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese, add 60 cents. My daughter ordered it with no mushrooms (she thought it was grits with whichever of those toppings you want to go with it). The young girl (cashier) said it didn't come with mushrooms, so I asked her what came with it. She said it's grits with hashbrowns and ham on top. I told the girl we didn't want that since my daughter is a vegetarian. I guess the cook was listening when we first attempted to order because as my daughter and I were trying to figure out what we wanted instead, he yells from the kitchen (keep in mind the kitchen is open to the register and restaurant and we can see him) "it would've been nice if I had been informed before I started cooking it." It was said in a VERY irritated voice. I looked in the kitchen and could tell he was mad. Who was he talking to? We didn't actually order anything yet. We asked for it but as soon as we found out it had ham we said never mind. Was he talking to the cashier? My daughter and I were very confused. Maybe he should wait for the actual order to be placed before starting to cook it. The cashier was extremely nice and told us to take our time. We sat down with the menu, and about a minute later, the cook yells out, "They better not order the same thing I just cleaned up." Again, my daughter and I looked at each other confused. Was he talking about us? The cashier looked embarrassed and started restocking a couple of things. I called her over and asked her if he was talking about us. She looked nervous and shook her head yes. I asked for the manager and she said he was the manager. I asked for his name and she said, Thomas. I got up and walked over to the kitchen and told Thomas he was a jerk for treating his customers this way. I told him we were not at fault for "ordering" something he had to throw out. We didn't actually order it, plus the menu is very unclear. I told him we could hear everything he was saying and that it was very rude. We left and went to Perks. I am concerned about the young cashier because 1) she has to work for a manager with anger issues and 2) I'm worried he will fire her because she was honest and told me he was talking about us AND gave us his name. If he treats his customers (an adult) this way, then I can only imagine how badly he treats his young employees. I'm guessing there is a reason there are no customers in the place when I go. Who would want to be in that...
Read moreI love Frozen Puccino's with Mocha, the coffee is absolutely fantastic, and I like that they put ice-cream/frozen yogurt into it (they may forget to put the ice -cream though, so make sure they did). I always buy a couple of coffees, one - hot Cappuccino, another - frozen. And I always leave good tip because I know that job is hard. However, they never gave me any coupon/Tuesday card at this location on W Esplanade - 4644. I came on Tuesday two weeks ago for a couple of coffees, and realized that I am paying the full price, and not getting any free reward coffee, just because they never gave me coupons! And the stack of Tuesdays cards sits always there on the cashiers register, they just didn't give it to you. So why am I buying coffees, if I am not rewarded? That is very frustrating, especially for the regular customer since 2007 - to spend a good amount of money for coffees, and not to get rewarded while other places give you stars. Do they give coupons only to their friends? I really do not feel appreciated customer at this place, and I will probably switch my coffee place. Another thing is that the last time a new girl told me to pay more than $7 for the Cappuccino, it didn't look like a usual price to me. I think they are cheating there, - as was already mentioned in the reviews below, and this is frustrating. Please watch how much they charge you, and ask for the paper or electronic receipt in order not to get cheated. I hope that the Manager/Owner will take care of that otherwise they will loose their customers. No one wants to be cheated &...
Read morePuccino's is my usual go to coffee place. I only gave it 3 stars because of an unpleasant experience I had there within the last month. I ordered decaf coffee on a Saturday morning on the way to meeting. After drinking it I became aware that it wasn't decaf. When I went in the following Saturday, I learned why. As the barista was making my decaf, another employee came behind her and arbitrarily added a shot of espresso. I noticed and fortunately so did the barista. She asked him what he thought he was doing and he said helping you by adding the shot. She told him it was decaf and he had no business doing that. He said he just figured it was regular coffee. I let them know that that was NOT okay. I had already mentioned that the week before I had ordered decaf and realized that either they didn't use decaf like I asked or this same employee (who was working that Saturday, too) had arbitrarily added espresso to my decaf. They apologized. I explained to them that what he did was dangerous. If a client has a heart condition, they usually have to drink decaf. His action could have serious implications. But, all they did was apologize. When I went with two friends for coffee this evening, I stressed decaf to the server. I got decaf. I told my two friends who were with me what had happened in the past. They couldn't believe that someone could be such an idiot. So, everyone watch the staff while your coffee is being made so this doesn't happen to you!! I will probably start going elsewhere for my Saturday...
