Buck's Restaurant — Restaurant in Louisville

I have been a fan of Buck's each time I have visited, except for this past and last visit. I have had some experience with rude waiters and waitress, but the food was so good it made up for the lack in good customer service. This past visit put the icing on the cake when my family and I had a very rude and aggressive waiter. He was very demanding and didn't really take time to make sure our service was at its best. The wait time for food , drinks, appetizers, dessert, our check was very long. We had many request that were ignored, and my aunt orders the New York Strip that wasn't cooked as she desired. It was taken back and cooked accordingly, as we were told and when it returned to her it was in the same condition. She was so exhausted from all the cramp we had went through prior she decided to just take her steak home and finish cooking it herself. I also had an aunt whom has a health condition and needed to leave right away. She asked the waiter for her check and his reply was once everyone at is finished with dessert. She explained that she couldn't wait and he stated " I repeat I will bring your checks when everyone has finished". She is a surviving breast cancer patient and was having a flair at the moment and needed to get home while in pain. He failed to care of reasoning why she needed to leave and basically refused to bring her check. Gratuity was added to our bill being that we were a party of 9, and I truly believe it for service wasn't at its best you should be able to give what you want. We had to give this man the highest percentage of a tip when he was so rude and didn't make our experience one that would allow us to come back. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. We planned a surprise 70th birthday party for my mother and Buck’s so accommodating. They went out of their way to make it such a special night not only for my mother but for everyone there. Karen Shane and our waitress, Becca, went above and beyond. A special menu was prepared to accommodate everyone at dinner with the heading Happy 70th Birthday Sherry. Even the smallest detail like that delighted my mother. Our party consisted of 17 people, our drinks were always promptly filled & our food orders taken fast without any hesitation to special request. The salads arrived within minutes of being ordered. Shortly after the last bite of salad was taken our entrees were served. Hardly a word was spoken during the entire eating of the entrées as we were all enjoying our delicious meals. Some of the entrées we enjoyed were the fillet mignon, chicken saltimbocca, crispy fish, Prosciutto wrapped lamb chops and Duroc pork chops. The side orders that came with each order were mouthwateringly delicious as well. Even though every table was just about full on a Friday night at dinner time we were treated as if we were the only people in the restaurant. There are not enough words to say how much I appreciated all the special attention we were given for this event. It saddens me to give a review of less than 5 stars for bucks as it is a very special place for my husband and I. We come here for very special occasions and always with a reservation. Upon arrival on this past Saturday we noticed they had both entrance doors propped open and once we stepped in there was a very strong smell of sewer. The host sat us in the very last seat in the bar area right next to the men's restroom directly where the a/c unit was blowing directly on me. We must of had a confused look on our face and he stated that the dining room was being held for reservations! Umm...we had reservations! He walked away and just said "sorry". We ordered the meatball appetizer and they came out COLD! Not even a little warm. The mozzarella cheese that's supposed to be melted was just like pats of butter sitting on top of them. Our Server who was not very friendly l, took the dish away and didn't say a word. She brought our entrees out and guess what? COLD!! Again! Even the dinner rolls were so chewy they weren't edible. We have never had a single complaint, nor do we ever complain anywhere, but the whole experience was terrible. From being treated like we were just walking in without a reservation, treated us like "second class" citizens, food being inedible, sitting right next to the men's room and being dismissed by our server it was just too much!!
