This place legitimately used to serve my favorite Chinese in Louisville, but over the past few years has went markedly downhill. The prices have risen and the standards of the food have drastically declined. The chicken used for stuff like General Tso's nowadays is usually burnt and crumbles apart in your mouth in a sensation I can only compare to taking a bite from an ashtray. I also ordered "chow mein". I know what this dish is supposed to be, and it definitely isn't a container of unseasoned steamed vegetables with a side bag of what appeared to be deep fried crumbled wonton wrappers. The Beijing Beef was likewise underseasoned, and the dish was 75% onions. The fried rice and egg roll were solid but I yet to have seen a place outside of Panda Express mess these up. Me and my friend dropped over $50 on this garbage, and I mean that in a literal sense as most of the food ended up in the trash. Neither of us thought it was worth keeping for leftovers.
Finally, back when I used to come here there was a super nice woman who was always extremely polite and remembered what dishes I liked, as well as asking about my family. I'm not sure if she now only works there during lunch or stepped away from the front, but now the past few times I've went there I had a much ruder employee taking orders. She seems like she'd rather be anywhere else in the world and resents you for wasting her time.
I wish I had some recourse to get a refund on this, but that would have meant we had to leave home, get back in the car, and go on a 30 minute round trip to argue with the restaurant that their food is subpar. It's a shame that the money and food were both wasted, but I have learned my lesson and will not be giving this place any more chances. If you want good food from this shopping center, Sam's Gyros is just a...
Read moreI've decided that every time I experience a racist encounter I am going to post about it. So I went to this place today only because my daughter wanted Little Ceasar's Pizza. I usually go to China Inn at UofL. They are the best. But because of proximity, I chose this place. The woman who waited on me at the counter was unbelievably rude, rushed me while I was trying to order. Then when I asked to make sure I received fried rice; she got mad and slammed my card down on the counter and said the fried rice was $1.00 extra. As I stared in disbelief, someone from the back came out. She appeared apologetic for this woman's behavior and explained why they had to charge the $1.00 extra. I thanked her and proceeded with my order. I went to go get the pizza and upon my return I sat down waiting for my order to be completed. The original woman who waited upon me, saw me come in, went to the back, came back out and threw my food on the counter... while I was still sitting. Again... I looked at her in amazement. If it wasn't for my daughter being present, I would have said something. So I gathered my things and was getting utensils, sauces and other items and I heard her speaking ever so politely to the next customer who came in. When I turned around, it was a police officer she was speaking to. I did a little grin and thanked her for my food but decided to write a review. I am sure this is not the atmosphere of the entire restaurant. However, this was my first time visiting this place and I was highly disappointed in the way I was treated. One bad apple can...
Read moreI used to love coming here five years ago, they consistently had the same quality every time I ordered. But now it's become overly expensive for a lot worse food. I ordered general tso, Beijing beef, fried rice, and chow mein. The order of chow mein came with streamed veggies and what was essentially a small bag of fried croutons. I'm absolutely stunned they wouldn't say something if it's a meal they either couldn't make or had ingredients for. The chow mein is a dish with crispy fried noodles and an incredible blend of spices and veggies all stir fried. Not unseasoned, steamed veggies and no noodles. The general tso chicken wasn't remotely as flavorful as it should be. I could barely taste anything, definitely zero heat. I was very let down. The Mongolia beef was fairly tender and delicious, definitely a step up but not something I'll come back for. Lastly, the fried rice was just acceptable.
The past couple experiences have also been underwhelming, and this last meal is the final nail in the coffin. Which is a shame, it's a convenient location but when I'm itching for Chinese food, there's plenty of other options. Especially when I was charged $51 for what I was given. The place called "Rice Box" south of here was very good for much cheaper or even better: go to Sam's Gyros for far friendlier, quicker, cheaper, quality food. I hate to be harsh like this but genuinely feel like this place needs...
