My daughters have been interested in going to a haunted attraction in town for several years now. Weād explored several options before choosing the Haunted Hotel and Iām so pleased with our choice. We purchased our tickets online and arrived about 10 minutes before they opened to get in line. While waiting our turn, many of the actors kept us entertained with their ghoulish and frightening antics. They were good sports to pose for photos too.
When it was our turn to enter, we were already scared. My brave, tough 14-year-old suddenly wanted to hold my hand and hide behind my back. I donāt want to give any of the surprises away, but I can assure you that the actors are very talented, well costumed and stay in eery character without fail. Their special effects, acrobatics and unwavering energy are laudable. The āsetā is well done and quite varied, providing for surprises around literally every corner. Your senses will be shocked. The lights and sounds are appropriately disorienting.
Our adrenaline was high as we felt like we were part of a freaky film. My disbelief was definitely suspended as I was begging and running for my life at the end of the experience.
My daughter, a self-proclaimed horror connoisseur, is a tough critic. She said she would only give it an A+ if it scared her to the point of crying. While she didnāt shed any tears, she wholeheartedly thought it merited...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited Haunted Hotel last night with my friends and had a couple issues but Iāll also mention the parts that I enjoyed. The wait wasnāt terribly long, but it is overpriced. Also the excessive amount of cop cars with their lights on gave me a headache before we even went inside. The first two actors I came in contact with (both dudes) felt the need to grab my face aggressively, get veryyy close, and squish my cheeks. I understand that itās a contact haunt, but as a haunt actor myself- the face is generally an area you shouldnāt be touching (especially during a Pandemic š.) It was overkill, and honestly I wish they wouldāve been more creative instead of relying on making a woman uncomfortable for their scare. Also- itās cheesy to scream āget outā at guests in a haunt so just, donāt. Iām not a hater though, I did really enjoy most of the haunt. The whole set throughout the building was phenomenal! All of the actors makeup and costumes looked amazing too. I loved the props (but my boyfriend did get smacked in the face by the first moving prop), and the lighting was on point. The jumpscares were pretty good and got me multiple times. The timing of the chainsaw at the end was GREAT, we thought we made it outside safely and then he came out and really got us. Overall, it was a decent experience, but I probably wonāt come back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIm a stickler for haunted houses, especially the unique ones such as The Haunted Hotel. Iāve been going every year for about 6-7 years now, and it was awesome for the first 4 years. They were passionate about getting better each year. Unfortunately, last year was decent but was a pretty big letdown for me. My dad loved it, as it was his first time going, so I rated it 3 stars instead of 2.
I took a group of 7 tonight and they split us up due to the elevator capacity. The elevator scene is the best and continues to be the best scene in any haunt Iāve been to; however, thatās where it ends sadly. The haunt this year was deemed a ramp up from previous years in intensity, so we were pumped to go.
It is incredibly shorter this year, had scarce amount of characters to play in it, and there were several rooms that were filled rooms and void of any character or story. The animatronic animals need to go or be changed to something actually scary. There needs to be more interactions. When we first started going, there were tons of actors and really warped encounters. There were 3 chainsaw wielding maniacs. Now thereās one.
All in all, itās a good haunt but it feels like the passion is gone. I was disappointed this year and will probably try to find another haunt...
