Very nice and quiet seating. Wasn't sure how the order process worked, but we waited quite a bit before placing an order and had questions if we could take our leftovers home to not waste food. Menu states no taking food home with leftovers. If food is left, you have to pay full price of what that item was. They had a little robot bring our food out to us, which was a little cute. So I got crab Rangoon, which was a little runny inside, and the sauce was soupy and thin, not like what I am used to, but it was okay. I also had the coconut shrimp, which was delicious, and it had no shells. The coconut is not on the shrimp but the dipping sauce for it. Very good. My entree I started with was the Pink Lady Roll. Which Im not going to lie was very delicious. After our first dishes were served it was very difficult to get the waitress back to the table. When we did I got the 2nd one. I got the Super Dragon Roll. I love sushi, and have had it at other places but that is one that I do not recommend. Something was off about it, and I had to force myself to eat it or pay full price on top of paying the $27.95 for the all you can eat buffet. I told the waitress and another gentleman there that the roll was upsetting my stomach and that it didn't taste right without any apology or resolution. I came home and was sick all night and had about 2 hrs sleep before I had to go to work. I have mixed feelings as I have eaten at several sushi places but never had this experience from any of them. I understand not wasting food like most people do at buffets, but if someone eats all of their first place and half of what they have on the 2nd plate especially for the price, they should be able to take the remains home if they like it. However in my case I was pretty much forced to eat something that I have had from other places without a problem but this time was not good at all and when I made them aware it should have either been removed from my tab or replaced with something else of my choice. I am very conflicted about sending anyone to eat there because of my last sushi roll. Something was seriously wrong with it, and to make matters worse, I feel they didn't care that it was making me feel sick. Not to mention, it had me up all night sick. All I can say is take precautions, don't do the all you can eat so that if you do have an issue, maybe they will listen and do...
Read moreupdate I'm editing my post because we decided to give this place a second try. The original post was not a great first impression, but I'm all for redemption stories. I watched many videos about people's experiences here and thought maybe, just maybe, it was a bad day for the staff and we are all humans who make mistakes. My original post was meant to educate and hopefully make the experience for someone else better.
We went back on a Saturday at 1pm just to see if we experience the same situation. We got seated in the middle of the restaurant and had a male server. He was very polite and very fast with bringing food to the table. The food was delicious. We stuck to the sushi menu. Between my husband and I we had salmon rolls, tuna rolls, crab ragoon, chicken karaage, tuna tataki, Philadelphia rolls, fried calamari, and mushroom soup. The fried calamari was a bit chewy but not the worst we've ever had. The mushroom soup was a bit more peppery than I am used to, still not bad. All and all for the price we paid and this experience i have changed my rating. Thank you to the staff of Sumo.
Original post Went at 1pm on a Satuday. They had a few people seated but not many. We sat down immediately and were given menus. The restaurant was nice, beautiful decorations. I give that 5 stars. We sat and sat and sat waiting for someone to come take our drink order. Nothing! A woman came in and was seated near us, gave her menu, and when the waiter came back, he gave her drink, then went and dropped off someone else's food. Another table full of women had a female waitress that was taking their order. When she was done, she stood off to the side chatting with the lady who was just seated and served a drink who was at a salad bar, I believe. We got up and walked out. The woman said, "Thank you for coming." I said,"Why we didn't eat, no one served us." She just responded with,"oh". Walking out the door, another male said, "Thank you!" We just walked out shaking our heads. I was so excited to go to this place. My husband and I drove 50 minutes because we haven't been able to find an all you can eat sushi place near where we live. Service I gave one star and food I didn't rate because we didn't get to try anything. With all the positive reviews, I was really hoping to have had a...
Read moreMy husband, son, and I ate dinner at this restaurant on January 18th. The food that we received was great but the service is why I stated I would not recommend this restaurant. We arrived around 8pm to put our names in and were told it would be around a 30 min wait. At 8:39 we were called to let us know our table was ready. When we went back in the hostess told my son and I that we could wait to the side and then asked my husband how many was in his party. He told them he was with us. When we were seated our waiter explained how the process worked and we placed our first order. The first thing I ordered was a salad along with two rolls. When the food arrived we received everything we ordered but my salad. I reminded our waiter and he told me just a moment. We placed our second order and I asked for a salad. The food came, but no salad, after being their around an hour our waiter came and said it was the last call, I reminded him a still needed a salad but also wanted an order of crab Rangoon. He responded with you want fried chicken wings, I said no just a salad and the crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon arrived along with what my family has ordered but again no salad. At this point I realized I was not going to be receiving it. When we were approached to pay the waiter asked would the bill be together. We responded yes and paid. Now other than a few hiccups and missing items you may think why isn’t this lady recommending the restaurant, she said the food was great. The truth is my family and I felt racially profiled with this dining experience. I am a black women, my husband is white, and our son mixed. Twice we were question about wither we were together once when returning to be sat, we were all there when we but our names in and when call back, our waiter stated I order fried chicken when those words never left my mouth. As a mixed family we have experienced this before, usually when vacationing rarely close to home. We would love to return one day if we knew that this experience would not happen again. If there were no salads just let me know, I would not have asked again. But just because a family looks different it should not have to come up twice, and although I do enjoy chicken, I wish I didn’t not have to feel stereotyped. Thank you...
