Terrible service.
My fiancée and I have been to Limon y Sal 3 times now and have continued to have a similar experience. We visited within a month or so of the business opening and a couple times afterwards to see if they had improved procedures or not.
Basically, Limon Y Sal has great food. I would say that they have food that is similar to what you would get at an El Nopal, except it feels much more high-quality. Also, the pricing is fair. Prices are not much higher than what you would pay at your typical Mexican restaurant despite the more high-end atmosphere.
The most disappointing part of our experience has always been the employees and their customer service. The waiters are often nowhere to be found. You won’t be getting a refill, you’ll wait forever for your food, and if you have any issues you’re out of luck.
We had an issue on our 3rd visit, where they double charged our card. For some reason the system charged us twice and we couldn’t get anyone to help us. The employees even ignored us when we were trying the get their attention. They acted as if they couldn’t understand what we were saying. Luckily my fiancée speaks fluent Spanish, so she caught them off guard when she switched languages and they still acted like they couldn’t understand her.
After much frustration we were able to get a manager to speak with us. She wasn’t in store, but they took our info down and she called us hours later and took care of the issue. We are both very easy going and understanding in most circumstances, but this restaurant has frustrated us to the point we won’t be visiting again.
If you want some quality Mexican food, Limon y Sal won’t disappoint. If you value customer service and want the best dining experience, I would highly recommend going elsewhere. After experiencing issues 3 times myself, it’s likely you’ll have a...
Read moreLemon y Sal has a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere and a solid drink menu that’s both well-priced and genuinely delicious. It’s the kind of place you walk into and want to like — upbeat vibe, good music, and fresh-made chips and tortillas that raise your expectations right away.
Unfortunately, nearly everything after that was a letdown.
The salsa came out looking and tasting like it was poured straight from a can of El Pato into a ramekin — thin, watery, and lacking freshness. We ordered the guacamole which the menu described as containing tomato, cilantro, jalapeño, onion, and lime. What arrived was a bland, whipped paste of avocado and garlic — none of the bright, punchy flavors, we were promised.
The entrees didn’t improve things. The carne asada tacos my friend ordered looked like the beef had been boiled, not grilled — gray, lifeless, and unappetizing. My mole dish came with five tiny chunks of chicken swimming in sauce, and my wife’s enchiladas were completely devoid of flavor, especially frustrating given the price point.
Service-wise, we were sympathetic — our server was clearly in the weeds. But after waiting an hour and a half for food and never having our table bussed (we ended up clearing it ourselves and walking the dishes to the bar), it felt like the experience had completely unraveled.
At the end of the day, the drinks were great, but the food was terrible. Not just disappointing — outright bad. So bad that a refund would’ve been more appropriate than a check.
Lemon y Sal has potential — great drinks, a fun atmosphere, and a nice concept — but the execution, especially in the kitchen, fell flat across the board. We wanted to like it, but the food was genuinely bad enough that we nearly sent it back. Here’s hoping they...
Read moreTerrible experience. I do NOT recommend and absolutely will NOT be back. 0/10. The food is extremely bland. I’m not sure how that’s even possible. My brother and I had the Barbacoa tacos and they were extremely disappointing. We had a larger party due to celebrating my brother’s birthday and the service was terrible. We waited a while for our food (I understand being a large party), however, everyone at the table was almost done by the time I got my food. My brother and I ordered the same thing and he got his food with the rest of the party. After myself and 2 other family members tried to mentioned it to various waiters they were obviously trying to avoid us. Like they knew they were wrong. They eventually sent over a young lady who told us the kitchen was making my food but this young lady was not our waiter or the gentleman helping him. Again, proof you’re avoiding us. After all of this, we were then ready to leave and it took forever to get the checks. Our waiter asked how many boxes we needed. We responded, he repeated it. Then proceeded to bring back only 1 box. I had to get up and go to the bar to get a to go box. We were celebrating my brothers birthday, my dad told the wait staff as soon as we arrived. They did nothing. We had to remind them again. Very disappointing. I don’t want to pull a race card but it appeared wait staff was very attentive to others and not us (a Black family). Service alone was enough to never go back. Poor service and bland food? Terrible and embarrassing. You’re better off going to El Nopal. At least at El Nopal they’re friendly, fast service and the...
