Big Bad Breakfast.....You teased us in Charleston, SC. But we couldn't get to you. We had too much to do and still couldn't finish it all. You teased us when you opened up down the street from us, but we couldn't get to you because of all the people who wanted to try it. Today, we got you.
We got up and went to this location for breakfast, and as I type this at nearly midnight, I am just now finishing the Mother of All Biscuits from this morning.
My fiancée, our son, and I went to the Brownsboro Crossing location on a Saturday morning at around 10 am. The area is fairly heavily congested with traffic and suburban sprawl. The building is beautiful. Country style porch and welcoming staff as you walk in. They had cornhole and other outside activities. There was no wait and the hostess got us a table immediately. They had the windows open as it was a cool morning. Then entered Sam. Sam. He was very welcoming and friendly. I ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice, Mother of All Biscuits, and the Big Bad Breakfast plate with sausage, fried eggs, biscuit, and potatoes. We ordered our son a cheeseburger and fries. He is very picky. My fiancée ordered the Keke's Breakfast wrap.
The eggs were cooked perfectly. The sausage was a recommendation from Sam. It was delicious. The Mother of All Biscuits had a large piece of boneless fried chicken cooked masterfully. Replete with cheddar cheese you could actually taste.
The food did take a while to arrive. They were busy so I can't be too upset about that. When the food arrived, everything looked good. Sam came right up and I told him the potatoes I ordered had onions and I abhor onions. He was quick with an offer to take the offending dish away. A fresh order of what I would call diced hot potatoey goodness arrived. And it was worth it. I don't know what they cooked the potatoes in, but it tasted like student loan forgiveness and candy.
We ate and we were merry.
Restaurants base their reputation on their food. We all know that 2/3 of all restaurants fail within the first year. The economy sucks right now. Fast food is charging what sit down places used to charge and the actual and perceived gap of what you get vs. what you pay for is becoming more and more apparent. At BBB, that is not the case. There is an old saying: If you have to ask the price, you shouldn't be looking. At BBB, it isn't what I would call cheap. You are, by every meaning of the word, getting what you pay for. The total bill ended up being just under $60. When compared to other places we have gone that are simply breakfast amateurs, like IHOP (abysmal quality and no personality food) there is none better. I try to be a good tipper generally. Today was no exception. Sam was excellent, attentive, kind, acknowledged our son, came by the table when he should have didn't when he didn't need to. The place was busy but that didn't stop him from being awesome. Sam, keep up the good work of bringing that delicious food to people.
In summation, I will simply borrow a phrase from a well known reactor:
Fredo: "gimme piece"
This food, place, staff, and price are well worth it....
Read moreIt's been 4 months, and I had to stop back in for another delectable delight. This time around, I tried the Mother of all Biscuits, and I made it a dirty bird (adds hot sauce, honey, and candied bacon). The sandwich is bigger than expected, topped on a light and fluffy biscuit, drizzled with honey and hot sauce (I got the hot sauce on the side). This was a nice sweet and savory mix. This place is full of good food. If you have not stopped in, come by and give them a try.
Btw...I sat at the bar again and had the pleasure of having Jordan serve me yet again. The breakfast margarita will certainly get you started in the right way on your day. This time around I also got a chance to see the manager Dominique in action. Let me say this, she too is kind, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. She provided celebrity type service, all while putting in actual work. I can definitely say I appreciate that. The two of them make for an unbelievable fantastic experience that will always draw you back for more good food, phenomenal service, and exceptional smiles!

First let me start by saying it was my birthday for this visit as well as my first time here. I was sitting at the bar having a solo birthday brunch. And Jordan made this solo brunch a birthday brunch to remember. Her smile and personality kept me with a smile. She was personable, kind and knowledgeable of the food and drinks. When visiting, especially solo, go to the bar and let Jordan treat you like the celebrity you deserved to be treated like! I will most certainly be back!!!
If interested, I had the shrimp and grits which has a small kick but is delicious and the french toast with strawberries...sooo, good.
FYI...They have $5 Happy Hour drink specials from 7am - 10am if you are able to start you day off with a...
Read moreThe atmosphere is moderate. Service, above average.
Food and drinks are a bit more and bit less than expected in two areas. One, the cost of coffee vs orange juice is interesting. OJ cost more than Coffee but served relatively smaller (at least by me and my gf opinion) than the coffee. Which surprised if taken into account one was brewed and the other most likely bought in a container.
Another bit of opinion is that both our meals were lacking something to stand out with such prices. My gf had grits a lot in life compared to me so I can understand her reasoning when saying the grits were not as flavorful alone. That only seems to be entirely enjoyable when mixed with the sauce of the shrimp.
For me the chicken and waffles were too ordinary. Chicken tasted like every other chicken tender if it was restaurant or homemade as if they were just seasoned with basic salt, pepper, and flour. The waffles were pretty ordinary and basic with just added for the sake of being a chicken and waffles. The honey was probably the only thing that made me enjoy some flavoring but that's it. Kinda expected a bit more from other Chicken and waffles with maybe some kind of spicy to the meal for a sweet and hot southern chicken and waffles. I'd rather just make these at home.
Overall; standard, bland, bit priced experience that I don't plan to enjoy again...
