I first joined Costco when we decided to get a dog. It sounded cost effective even though were are a family of two.
Seven years later, we lost our dog, but we kept our Membership. Even though we don't go there often, the do have some of the best deal and unbelievable, customer focused policy.
Last year, my husband had a full knee replacement and his friend recommended that we get a recliner from Costco which helps people to stand up (the way it's designed). So, of course, it sounded like a good idea. My husband was on a mission to take his PT and knee exercises seriously because he loves playing golf more than anything in the world. I saw him sitting on the recliner less than 10 x in the year since we bought it.
Last November, I called Costco to see if I could return this ginormous recliner (it had been just over a year). Ironically, my husband had bounced back and was on his annual golf trip. The lady in customer service said if I brought it into the store, they would take it back. She assured me it was fine and to make sure the to bring any electronics associated with the chair.
Two weeks later, my husband and I took the chair back to Costco (with trepidation) because it didn't sound believable that we could actually return it for a full refund.
I rolled the recliner chair in a big, flat cart and took it to customer service. The person scanned my card and gave me a full refund.
I was elated!! I was happy to get the money back, but even happier to get rid of another piece of furniture which was taking up too much space!!

Read moreI visted Costco on June 21st 2018 at the Louisville east Loctaion to go shopping for items I needed, after checking out close to $300.00 dollars worth of items I start to leave and had to show my receipt to the tall older gentleman at the exit door, As he was checking my cart he spotted an item that was not on my receipt, At that point he begin to make me feel as if I was trying to steal items from the store . With a large line of shoppers in line behind me he grab my cart and told me I needed to come with him at this point he made me feel very uncomfortable and embarrassed.since I didnt do any thing wrong. The door gentleman took me all the way back to a register by the other registers so he could fill out a report and ring up the item that was missed when I checked out , Personally I feel this person was not very professional or discrete to protect my privacy on a mistake that was clearly not my fault. after taking my Items to my vehicle I went back in to the cashier and told him what had happen and he stated to me that he had been having problems with his scanner and that is why the item was probably missed. so I believe if that can happen I think the store Management should do audit checks on their equipment so that they do not cause their members to be put in that situation . when it comes time to renew my membership I will give it some hard thought if iI want to continue doing bussiness...
Read moreGot my eyes checked at the vision center - that was a great experience, went into Costco to get glasses that was not. There were two ladies behind the counter, one was helping a customer the other was talking to a friend. I walked up and down the selection for about 10 minutes waiting for one of them to finish. I then waited another 5 to 10 minutes for the lady to end the conversation with her friend. While I could get the attention of the lady in deep conversation I could not get her to actually acknowledge me. My husband called out to her, took a few “hey can we please get some help” befor she looked up. I felt bad for her conworker, she seemed a little annoyed that the coworker was 100 miles away in conversation. They lady said that she was helping the gentleman, but that was clearly not the truth, there was nothing in his cart, he was not near any glasses, or the register. That was when I decided my time had waisted and I was going elsewhere. I don’t want an excuse, an apology would have been a starting point, but making an excuse was the last straw. If your going to ignore customers be honest about it, try “ I’m sorry I did not think your were ready, I did not see you there, I’m sorry I was lost in coversation” or “ I hate my job, and don’t care about anything”. I recommend the Costco vision center, but the small selection at that Costco is not worth the...
