I don’t like giving bad reviews but the manager on the floor was not acting appropriately in any way.
The boy who was working both lanes and back cash was amazing and friendly, but obviously very busy. The girl at the second window was obviously new to the position, but the manager was there to “help” her (not a crew trainer, which is what is appropriate). For some odd reason, the manager chose to help this poor teenage girl by berating her right in front of the customers for not understanding the drinks screen. (For anyone who’s never worked in a McDonald’s, the drinks screen can be confusing especially when some orders—like ours— don’t have drinks.) We were waiting in like for about 3 minutes but we were still pulled forward. We weren’t given an estimated wait time or told why we were being pulled. After over 5 orders had been handed out we pulled back around. The boy at the speaker told us to come inside.
One coming inside I was greeted by an older woman, I said “it takes 80 seconds to make a quarter pounder and I’ve waited over 20 minutes.” Instead of an apology or getting her manager she got an attitude with me and told me “we make all of our quarter pounders to order.” I respond that the order was placed 20 minutes ago and this is unacceptable. Her manager gets involved now, repeating what she said. Guys they’re not making the bread back there it takes 2 minutes to make one start to finish I promise you. The manager and the crew member both got loud with me and had an attitude with me, and the crew member made sure to let me know she was the managers mother. Now that the manager knew I understood that the kitchen wasn’t waiting on the dough to rise she started loudly complaining about how it was the girl in the window’s fault that my order took 20 minutes. This is not okay. Publicly humiliating your crew as a manager is creating a hostile environment for your crew. That boy was in the back doing 3 jobs and the older woman in the front was doing nothing but she was getting away with it because she was the managers mother. If she was doing something, she was either not in the right area for it— as all of the machines for drinks were on the other side of the building— or she wasn’t wearing the proper sanitary measures for this— as she wasn’t wearing gloves or an apron. This manager not only found it appropriate to give a customer lip, but she found it appropriate for her mother to give a customer lip, for her mother to slack off, for a child to pick up her mother’s slack, and for her to humiliate the teenage girl in the drinks window. But hey at least they didn’t spit in my burger lol. 1 star for making my...
Read moreUpdate: Kudos to McDonald's corporate customer service for thoughtfully replying to my online complaint and forwarding my complaint to franchisee.
And kudos to franchisee representative for contacting me to express their concerned apology and offer a free sandwich, which I respectfully declined as to not diminish my initial complaint.
Dropping in at about 7:00pm for a quick sandwich and drink before 7:30pm event at the University of Louisville campus, I ordered a double filet o fish and a large sweet tea. The lobby was clean, the seating area had a couple people who appeared to be camped out there and the dining area appeared disheveled but not filthy. There was no sweet tea in the container at the beverage station but an attendant behind the counter filled my cup with tea from the drive-thru container. The sweet tea was delicious. Can't say the same for the double filet-o-fish. The bun had a firm unusual stiff resistance, and the filet o fish patties made me think of what it might be like to bite into driftwood. The filet o fish patties tasted as though they had either been cooked much earlier and then set aside and dried out, or cooked too much and also much earlier than my time of order and cooled down to have hard texture. I can certainly appreciate the challenge that fast food restaurants have to not waste food, but I happened to experience getting a sandwich that crossed over the border of how long it should have been resting before being served. Oh, I will order a Filet-O-Fish sandwich again, but I'll try to do so when it looks like the restaurant is very busy and the chances are good of getting a freshly cooked Filet-O-Fish sandwich. Did I say the sweet tea was...
Read moreWent there tonight and orders a LARGE quarter pounder with cheese meal. I tried to order the #7 (two cheese burger, fries, and drink meal).. they then typed in 1 cheeseburger, a medium fries, and a medium drink separately. I told them I wanted the meal and they said "we dont have a meal" even though it's specifically on the menu as the #7. I just let it go as I didn't NEED two cheeseburgers anyway, I just wanted them. But I proceeded to the window. It got worse from here.
At the first window, we paid and it was fine. As soon as we pulled to the second window, the lady working handed us two medium drinks and the first thing she said was "I dont know which is which"..... I told her it was fine, but one was supposed to be a large as our receipt stated we ordered a LARGE quarter pounder with cheese meal. She then proceeded to tell us that's just "how it comes". When asked "So if I order a LARGE meal, I get a MEDIUM DRINK AND FRIE????"... she responded "yup".
We then asked for a manager and instead of politely saying she would get a manager she looked at the girl standing with her and said "Oh! they want a manager because of the drinks" with an attitude.
This entire interaction was the worst one I've EVER had at any McDonald's location. We were VERY polite, even letting go the cheeseburger meal situation at the speaker and settling for the false information that the person working window 1 told me so when we were met with the attitude and more FALSE information at window two.. we were irritated. The manager did step in and apologize, but still did not correct our meal/drinks other than offering another cheeseburger to makeup for the...
