This is the best place I've ever been to learn. Dr. Kaila Story is the best professor in the entire University. I had my "ah-ha" moment because of her. I graduated/transferred from IU Southeast, where I did my pre-requisites/received an Associate Degree, and received a renewable Transfer Scholarship to attend UofL. For my Junior year, I barely had enough money to cover tuition in federal loans--but the community came together for me. They let me know about their Cardinal Food Pantry, which is free for students, that helped sustain me for the semester. The Office of the Dean of Student Life even helped me fill out forms for an emergency grant, which also helped me pay for my medication and other medical related bills during school. UofL has insurance options for students that can be paid with loans and is billed with tuition. So if you're traveling here from another country, you're covered. The insurance plan is also great for students like me, whose parents could no longer afford them on their insurance plan after they turned 18. I should note, the insurance plan even includes dental.
My senior year I received more than $10,000 in financial aid in grants and scholarships (not federal loans) to attend. I am in the Phi Kappa Phi honors society and I love coming to school here. If you do well you will have more opportunities than you have time for. I get emails weekly that are not just about events going on in my community, but are about jobs and internships in my field of study. I've never been supported at a college the way that I am here at UofL. I can finally see a brighter future for myself and it's all thanks to the...
Read moreHad an appointment that I waited 6-8 weeks for to get a specialty MRI. Waited an hour and a half without any word. When I inquired about the delay, reception said they didn't have an order for my procedure. How did you not have an order, when you don't schedule these without a referral and orders?! Wasted an entire afternoon and 60-mile round trip for NOTHING! Learned from my referring facility that this department is problematic...
Read moreGreat visit. This is a premier University in this region. I am impressed by the school and all of the schools within. They have grown so much over the last 10 years in classroom space, living spaces as well as recreation places. I love how the University has major ties into the community and with JCPS the local school district. Finally, the people I have met do their work here with the highest level of...
