The food at Miki's is amazing and the service is spectacular (they always remember me when I show up). However, there is one major issue that I hope is eventually worked on.
Karaoke is their draw, but there isn't a KJ. Patrons choose their own songs on a tablet with the Karafun app. First night, this seemed great. But each subsequent visit I noticed a flaw...trusting the patrons not to rearrange the song queue. Tonight was the worst group that I had seen there. I arrived at 7:30 and I had one song in the queue at all times, and left at 10:15 after singing 2 songs. Several people (many who arrived after me) sang upwards to 7-8 songs each. I watched half the room laugh as they showed other people how to make their song play ahead of others.
If you actually enjoy karaoke and follow common sense karaoke etiquette...this setup will be cringe to you on a busy weekend night. Hopefully with the immediate success that the place is seeing they'll shift to having a KJ host setup, someone who can regulate the queue and make sure people aren't constantly jumping in line. If I see that, then I'll return.
After going home and writing this...I'm certain my third song is still sitting in the queue 😑
Update; Miki's has actively been addressing the queue skipping issue, addressing proper karaoke etiquette on their social media and even placed a sign up next to the karaoke tablet asking singers not to jump the queue. Due to this, I'm raising my star review to 4/5, and I hope to see people honor this request of theirs. I'll come back for karaoke due to them acknowledging the do's and don't's of karaoke, and I'll have to enjoy another one of their...

My friend and I recently met in Louisville, Kentucky, to enjoy a karaoke night together after 49 years of friendship. We were excited to celebrate this special occasion at what seemed to be a great spot. We chose karaoke 🎤 That’s our thing. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by the management of the karaoke session. After patiently waiting for over an hour, we noticed that our songs continued to be pushed back, while many patrons were called up multiple times. When I approached the karaoke host to express my concerns, I was met with indifference and rudeness. Instead of receiving help, I was told that being nice might yield better results, which felt disrespectful given our patience.
Seeking assistance, I turned to the bartender, who unfortunately referred me back to the same unhelpful host. The lack of respect and attentiveness from the staff overshadowed our evening.
While the venue itself is aesthetically pleasing, the treatment we received left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. I regret to say that I will not be returning to this karaoke spot. It’s a shame, as we came for a fun night and left feeling...
Read moreWe live a short walk away from Miki's, and have been coming in almost every week since they opened. It's a lovely place, and loads of fun, whether you are there to sing, or just to grab some delicious Korean food. If you're hungry for a full meal, I highly recommend any of the cupbops or whatever special entrée they have. For snacks, you can't go wrong with any of the apps; I've had every single one, and they're all great. If you like wings, the Korean-style wings here are absolute fire!
The staff, especially Miki herself, are absolutely fantastic, welcoming and efficient. I was sick recently, and my wife went to get me spicy food from Miki's; they found out I was sick, and Miki sent over a bunch of Korean nut tea to help me feel better! Drinks are very generous pours; honestly, its a good thing I live around the corner, as stout as they are. They also carry some nice Kentucky products behind the bar, including Castle & Key (one of my favorite gins period) and a variety of bourbon.
I don't have kids, but if you do, Miki's is kid-friendly until 10PM. They're handicapped-accessible as well. Get your friends together, come hungry, and have...
