I went in to try the sandwich Jack Harlow sings about. Had it not been for the song, I would have not known this place existed. If a rapper talks about it... probably is good... right? WRONG. The owner came out and as I was telling his employees why I was there is was incredibly rude to me and stated that he has so many customers who know more than Jack Harlow. And I said, touché, however it's pretty cool to get business because someone said your product was good and that someone happens to be famous. He said NO that he doubts people rap about deli's in NYC and people don't go for that reason in the big city. I chuckled because I could not have disagreed more. Any time a famous person says something is good... they mean it. People then go try it. That is called 'word of mouth..." just so happens those famous people can reach a wider audience. At any rate, he kept being very VERY rude to me. I almost walked out but I thought "no let me at least try the sandwich so I can rate the place and say the owner was super rude but at least the sandwich was good." Well - the sandwich was mediocre at BEST. The turkey tasted like run of the mill lunch meat, the tomatoes were white, the lettuce was wilted and the ciabatta tasted like it came from Walmart. Jack Harlow - if you see this - the joint sucks and the owner doesn't deserve business. He's a jerk. His employees even apologized to me after he walked...
Read moreThis establishment is one of my favorite sandwich places in all of Louisville. It is also a liquor shop, but I don't think I've ever seen someone go in there to just buy alcohol because their sandwiches are fantastic. The first thing I'd like to point out is the quality. These sandwiches are top notch. Every sandwich is made with fresh cut meat and prepared to order with care. Another thing to mention is that here, bacon is a topping and is treated as a topping and not an additional meat on the sandwich which is a beautiful thing. Another great thing about Morris Deli is that there are fresh made cookies every time I go in there and there isn't a time that I leave without 3 of those delicious snicker doodles. The final thing regarding the food is the price. A sandwich and three cookies costs less than a Jimmy John's sandwich alone and is 1000x better. I would also like to make a quick mention of the building and environment itself. I love going in here because everyone that comes in is made to feel like a regular and it just feels a little like home away from home. Love it all, I just had a Morris Deli sandwich for lunch and I'm already...
Read moreI used to get Morris' deli at least once a week about 10 years ago when I worked close by in the Highland's. The sandwiches were piled high with deliciousness, and 1 sandwich was 2 days worth of lunch. I recently bragged to my boyfriend from California, that Morris' was the best. I fully get that it had been some time since I'd been there, and things change, costs and what-not. But, with a deli that seems to be as successful as this one you would think that tradition and quality would stay true. I have to say I was disappointed that I told him it was the best in town, and sadly, do not think I'll return. There just was not a lot to the sandwich I ordered, and the bread was dry and stale. The portion size is what drew me to this place along with the German potato salad, (which was still the same and good as always,) but there are far better delis in Louisville now that continue to impress with portion...
