This is the best Mexican food in the Denver area. I have lived in Texas, California & New Mexico and still look forward to Old Santa Fe as the destination for Great Mexican food! My wife loves the chicken fajitas, and I know I can’t miss if i get an entree with their green chili on it. EDIT: (Original Review) “Sandra was our server tonight and she was excellent!” TONIGHT: We dined at Old Santa Fe again tonight, and the food was excellent as always. It happened that Sandra was our waitress. We sat for 20 minutes before she came to take our order. (Although the place was not busy.) She was dismissive, to the point of being rude. She walked up to the table with only the two of us there, and immediately turned her whole body to me and asked what I wanted to order. She wasn’t even facing the table, she had her back to my wife when she asked. I stopped and looked at my wife who spoke up. She said, “I’d like to order.” as a hint that maybe the lady should order first? That should tell you that we are an older couple. not so old that we are inflexible; but she had her entire body facing towards me and not even an acknowledgment that my wife was sitting there. So she turned and said, “OK, what would you like.” My wife ordered an entrée and started to say we would have an appetizer, but Sandra had already completely turned her back. It was so noticeable that it became shocking! Fortunately, my wife is not shy. “ Excuse me, I’m not done ordering.” She said to Sandra‘s full back. It was obviously an inconvenience to take our order. I was surprised, since Sandra had been a great server the time before. I hope it was an off night for her, but I saw from one of the other reviews that it happened to somebody else. So sad to have to...

This is the third time we are visiting this place. The food is excellent, the patron is warm and welcoming right at the door. We have always had a great experience. We were a table of four. The server, Sandra, brought us menus but seemed preoccupied, as there was no greeting. I thought she was probably having a bad day and that it’s a hard job, so no matter but it would have been nice to get a smile. Anyway, preoccupied is the word, as we had to request and remind a couple of times. A little later, she lightened up a little and there was some interaction from her so all good.

The food as always is excellent! We got steak rancheros, guacamole dip half portion, spinach enchiladas and chicken tortilla soup.

The Micheladas are great too! A must order if you drink alcohol.

We agreed to leave a 20% tip as the food was good and the service picked up, if not as charmingly as we expected.

The bill was presented, swiped the card, and then as we proceeded to fill out the tip portion by hand, we noticed an extra line - gratuity was added at 15% for a table of four??? And not even circled out to make us aware. It’s the first time this restaurant did that and we suspect the server did it on her own. Normally, if it’s policy to build in gratuity, the server circles that line do the customer is aware. Luckily we saw that, and left another 5% in cash, and we pointedly drew an arrow to the built in gratuity so she was aware why we left the extra dollars, or she could have assumed that was all we were going to tip, which is not the case as we make it a point to tip decently where service warrants it.

Other than this, lunch and Ol Santa Fe are...

The food here is always good. The service was even better! We originally ordered our food to go,thinking we couldn't dine in due to covid... But apparently they just reopened their dine in! So instead we just sat down and ate what was suppose to be our "to-go" order. The gentleman serving us was more then kind about us changing our minds and deciding to eat there instead. He sat us and was great at making sure everything was how we ordered and wanted and timed him coming to our table to ask us if the food and everything was to our liking, which we replied"fantastic! Exactly how we ordered it (I don't like tomatoes or lettuce when it comes to my enchilada's, so I ordered mine without either and they got it right. I am currently pregnant otherwise I would have loved to try their margaritas while we were there...! Overall a great experience. We've only been there twice, once before when we ordered to-go due to covid, and then the other day when we sat down and ate there. This was the first time my bf and I have been able dine in at a restaurant, because we started dating right when covid began and all restaurants closed their dining in because of the state laws and social distancing, ect.... So this was a very nice change from take out, and we chose the right mexican restaurant to enjoy our first real sit down dinner date together! I would recommend this place to anyone I know that's looking for a good mexican restaurant, that's fairly cheap in price, and has good customer service- in...

I do not recommend take-out/carry out. My food was very soggy. What I ordered was to my surprise how small the items were. I ordered the steak chimichanga $15 (steak was amazing) but it wasn’t crunchy and was more like a smothered burrito, I don’t think they deep fried it. The $18.99 four item combo, the beef and bean burrito was wrapped in a soft taco, two hard corn tacos were so soggy they fell apart, and my tostada was a soft corn tacos also, the $9.99 bean dip, they put in a styrofoam cup and taped the lid I had no idea what it was. The thing I noticed mostly about my order was a lot of water in my box. I’m assuming from the ground beef and that’s what I personally think made it so soggy. Now, this was my first time here and don’t get me wrong the way they greeted EVERYONE that walked in that door put a smile on my face and the faces of those walking in. She said “welcome my friend” with a very big smile as if they just entered her Casa. To the younger lady who “liked my black car” and the other young lady from Friday evening 06/09/23, you both deserve a 10 star!!! I thank you for the AMAZING customer service, not only to walk into a place and be greeted they way you lady’s greet, but also for every customer to also leave with a smile does not happen often in many restaurants. THANK YOU!!!! Not to mention you two ladies will be the reason I will give Old Santa Fe a second try, sit down of course! #localguide
