Let's start off with the fact that even though the rooms are only $50 a night - that is $50 too much for the hell you will endure at this pit of despair.
In no specific order: I had breakfast at 630 am - watery scrambled eggs, stale bread offerings and lumpy waffle batter. At best, a half assed imitation of a lousy hotel breakfast. The dining room is tiny and the chairs and tables are all rickety and uncomfortable. Coffee was thin and oily, juice was watered down. Back up to the room I went. The small room. And by small, I mean tiny. Cramped doesn't begin to describe it. The shower/bathtub is miniscule and dangerously slippery, the tub walls cracked and yellowing with age. The toilet was clogged when we arrived and despite two calls for service, was still clogged when we left and no hotel staff had even come to the room to look at it. Just an absolute disgrace, top to bottom. The sheets were beyond filthy, as if they had had human hair braided into them. We arrived very late or I would have canceled our reservation immediately - I brought up sleeping bags from the car so we didn't have to subject ourselves to the appalingly dirty beds. The shower was lukewarm but that may have been the best part of our stay - it at least didn't at all entice me to stay in that cramped, dirty, outdated space. After my minute long shower my wife to be and daughter were waking up. Worried that they might miss breakfast (even though I told them they were probably better off missing it as by this tike my stomach was feeling rather disgusting) I was sent down to grab what I could for them with over half an hour of breakfast time left. While debating which of the offerings looked the least un-appetizing, the breakfast buffet staffer approached me and asked me what I thought I was doing. I didn't reply shocked by her rudeness and unfriendly demeanor. She told me that I had already had breakfast. I agreed and said this was fir my daughter and wife to be. She then proceeded to call me a liar at top volume and then went to go check with the front desk on whether she was right or not. I heard the other guests whidperung about how rude and inhospitable that interaction had been. Two approached me and confided that the staff there were all like that and encouraged me to complain. When I spoke to the hospitality manager and then the GM, neither was apologetic or understanding. I was told that everything I was understandably upset about had not only never transpired but that I in fact was the problem as they had evidence of a wild party that had occurred in my room the night before. No such thing happened. I was incredulous' aghast at their willingness to lie. That was when the GM said that due to the (made up) party and because I had breakfast twice, they were canceling the remaining three nights of our stay and banning me from the premises. Totally out of line but that's all I gad not to complain about as we were canceling our room anyways. We moved across McCaslin to the La Quinta where every aspect of our stay was better. I could not more strongly recommend everyone stay away from this travesty of a hospitality establishment. If this place were $500 cheaper than the next I would gladly pay that to never be treated in such an inhuman manner in a total trashpile of an...
Read moreThe motel itself is acceptable if a little unkempt and poorly maintained. There is some identifiable food in a tidy breakfast nook and a small but reasonable workout room. Some (most of those observed) cleaning and maintenance staff are oddly bad behaved and loudly so - and seem to entertain each other by inappropriate yet noisy chatter. Somewhere between a typical junior high school and a typical 60-days-in vibe. Cleaners loudly commented on guests taking too long to dress, for instance, while two cleaners waited together at the door to enter a room, laughing. Another one dispensed a loud commentary on "people parking wherever they [liked]," referring to guests. A maintenance worker then called a guest car "an eyesore" - the car was not on hotel property or even in front of the property. He went on to share another guest's 2-day vehicle breakdown, which he complained about to other guests and staff in a oddly over-concerned attitude. Upping the creepy factor for the woman with the "eyesore" car, he coincidentally showed up at the front desk to interrupt her checking in with the front desk staff to confirm that her car was ok as-is. Not too far removed from aggressive, but soundly rude. Apparently, the worker was less concerned about the neighboring businesses, where he was seen walking his dog during the day on the property of adjacent businesses - and without visible means to tidy after the dog (dog was seen crated in a maintenance room). Also, I was surprised with a mandatory $20 upcharge after booking online, the additional charge showed later and was disputed. So, compare to rooms priced $20 more. Finally, if security is a concern beyond your guest room door, know that there is at least one unmonitored and unlocked door -the door mechanism was actually taped to defeat the lock. During the day, the maintenance staff prop open another main access door. The meant-to-be- key- card-door to avoid the trouble (?) of swiping a key card to maintain controlled access. There were more professional and even (gasp) pleasant if not overly -helpful staff at the front desk and on duty in the early morning. There is an adorable plastic jar of tic-tac sized dog treats but no other sign of the advertised "pet friendly" hotel either inside or outside the hotel, which has no grounds, other than the ditches and small strips of grass along unswept sidewalk and parking lot which surrounds the rectangular building (which is itself surrounded by other parking lots and the tears of surrounding businesses). In a nutshell, it's very basic, good for the groups of traveling workers who can manage their own safety, at least to the point of beer and fast food saturation, but not for anyone who has to spend any day time hours and wants a pleasant atmosphere or any solo or safety cautious traveler, not for larger -than-hedgehog sized pets, or anyone who cam book into anywhere else for the same price - which is actually about 33% more than guaranteed. Aim higher at a bona fide 3 star and book through hotwire or priceline type site for well under 80 bucks, easily, and likely a better price, place,...
Read moreI stayed here for a week in November 2021. This is my experience... Pros : Housekeeping was available and cleaning rooms. I never had any issue with having to 'request service' then wait for hours, like at other hotels. Coin laundry, and they gave me quarters at the front desk. When the "privacy" sign was on my door, they left me alone so I could work without interruption...no phone calls from the front desk and they didn't enter the room without permission. Manager was available most days if I ever had a question or needed something. Staff and manager went out of their way to ensure I had a pleasant stay. The exceptional attitude and customer service of the manager and staff was a highlight of the stay. One day, I had an issue with my card. As a courtesy, they gave me a little extra time after checkout to resolve the issue with my bank and pay for the extension. They were very understanding. The complimentary breakfast! They had a full breakfast buffet with waffles and pancakes, and a whole array of other selections. There were people with disabilities on staff. For example, it appeared one of the people who worked in housekeeping was deaf. It is really nice to see a business giving people with disabilities a chance to work within their ABILITIES. I loved that!! Free coffee available 24/7 in the front lobby. Whole place was clean and sanitary. Public areas are well maintained. Great location, right next to restaurants, a Super Target, Whole Foods, and a gas station, among other stores such as Home Depot and PetSmart. Everything you need is within walking distance. Safe location. Suitable for families. QUIET. The rooms must have excellent sound proofing because I never heard anyone in the halls or from other rooms. Exceptional free internet with no downtime or lag. Cons : there is no elevator. If you have any mobility issues, make sure to request a bottom floor. That said, the stairs did not look too steep and would probably be easy for most people. Bottom line : I would recommend this hotel. I was there for business and was able to work remotely from the room. It's a relaxing atmosphere, so it's probably good for vacations, too. I stayed in a jacuzzi suite on the bottom floor. I recommend trying to book one of these rooms, because based on the other reviews, these seem to be the best rooms. They are slightly more expensive, but...
