This place came recommended to us by friends. Food was good, cute place, but service was a bit jarring. I ordered the 4 cheese raviolis with a Gorgonzola cream sauce, and pointed to it on the menu as I ordered, as our waitress repeated it. She seemed hurried and was kind of rushing us the entire meal anyway, so maybe she was just busy. In any event, when the food runner set my plate down, it was clearly not what I ordered (a wide noodle dish with red sauce). I told the runner, “oh this isn’t what I ordered.”
He took the dish away and went to tell our waitress. Not a minute later, she came over, shoved a menu in my face, and pointed to the opposite side of page from where the raviolis were listed, and said “NO! You ordered this!” I was a bit a taken aback her aggression and rudeness. I said “No, I didn’t, I ordered raviolis, I never would have ordered that” - a red sauce dish she had her finger on. And it was clear across the opposite side of the page. She argued with me a bit more, and said “ok we will get you the raviolis, but that is NOT what you ordered, and it’s going to take a few minutes.” To which I said, “of course no problem.”
Woh, I was kinda blown away. I asked my husband if I was crazy, did I not order raviolis? He said, no I heard you, you ordered the raviolis. I don’t care, miscommunication happens all the time in restaurants, I wasn’t upset, I just didn’t want to eat what I hadn’t ordered.
I was just a bit frazzled having never had a server be so indignant, rude, and in my face about “me” being incorrect?! About what I had or hadn’t ordered? These things are so much more easily resolved, as oops, a mistake was made, no big deal, no blame game, let’s just fix it! The customer is always right doesn’t necessarily fare true always, but for such a simple mistake (not matter who’s fault it truly was) just be nice, fix it, and keep your customers wanting to come back.
All in all, the correct dish was brought out, and it was delicious. We would return, just hopefully to a more...
Read moreThis place is a hit or miss with their cuisine. Thanks to my server, Lizzy my dining experience was salvaged. Not only is she attentive & polite, she is knowledgeable in the dishes & wines they have on their menu.
I came here for my dinner/late lunch. I ordered the Zucca Ravioli at Lizzy's recommendation & it was absolutely delicious. The butter sage sauce was sweet with a zing of balsamic that balanced out the flavor. The sauce however, was a bit runny & drowned my raviolis. I also ordered the Calabrese Pizza & should have ordered the Salciccia Funghi Pizza instead. I was looking forward to a nice spicy treat & got a tasteless greasy pizza. I should have known better that not all sausages heat/cook up & keep their zesty flavors. Aside from that, the crust was good. For dessert, I ordered the Tiramisu & again lacked any sort of flavor. The lady fingers looked as if the got a quick dunk in coffee as they looked dry & colorless, blending in with the mascarpone. All I tasted was the mascarpone cheese & waxy flakes of what was supposed to be chocolate shavings. Lizzy immediately saw my discontentment & apologized for any misgivings. She had suggested the Grand Marnier Creme Brulee for dessert earlier & again I should have taken her word. In replacement of the Tiramisu, she brought me the Creme Brulee & my mouth was HAPPY, making me do the Happy Dance in my seat as I delved in this scrumptious cold creamy treat that had a hint of orange from the Grand Marnier & the perfect crunch from the melted sugar on top. To wash all this down, I asked Lizzy to surprise me with a red Italian wine & she brought me the Castello Di Querceto Chianti which was a nice medium bodied surprise with just the right hint of woodiness I love from the wooden barrels. Over all, my lunch here was refreshing & pleasant thanks to my Wonderful Server, Lizzy.
I would have given three stars for the food, however, Lizzy was the redeeming aspect for the four stars. It's amazing how the way one is treated can completely turn a lemon...
Read moreParma is a place I have eaten at several times. Normally it is good but lately it has fallen. Last night when I walked in the host was nowhere to be found. We had to stand around for a bit before she finally came and greeted us. I watched her while we ate dinner. The majority of the night she was gone from the stand and kitchen staff had to answer the phone. I watched dozens of people walk in greeted by no one.. We get seated and order our drinks. We order calamari, a mozzarella dish, lobster ravioli, chicken Alfredo, and a margarita pizza. Our waiter was mediocre at best. He did ask if we were returning customers to the restaurant we said yes. He never came by to refill our drinks. He asked if he should ring in our entrées after we had finished our appetizers. I normally come to Parma for their wonderful margarita pizzas however they had changed the recipe. What we got was not a margarita pizza. It was a cheese pizza with a few random strands of basil. Before Parma had mozzarella, and thin tomato slices. I asked the waiter if the recipe had changed he said no then asked if I wanted it remade. I said no to that because I don't want the same bad pizza. I ate a single bite and left the rest. The other food was great. The calamari, lobster ravioli, chicken Alfredo, and mozz dish were good. The pizzas have fallen from grace here, so beware if you order one. The waiter kept asking if he could clear my plates. I had put them to the side of the table showing I was clearly done with them. We had to flag him down to pay our bill. Before tipping the meal was 115$. Parma is full of teenage staff. The food is good (except pizzas) but the staff is underwhelming.
Editing this review because the owner responded. We went on a Wednesday evening at 5:30pm. It was certainly not a "very slow shift." The restaurant was very busy. I already told you everything that made the experience less than spectacular. The help you had on Wed December 4 at 5:30 pm...
