This restaurant is missing the key to having return customers and the key is customer service. It's NYE and we made reservations for 8:30, got there early, we live over an hour away from BIG city) and asked if it was ok to be seated. The restaurant was barely busy, had maybe 4 tables. As the hostess sat us, we asked to be switched to a "dirty" half booth, due to long drive. Plus, it gave us a little more privacy. The hostess response was, as long as it's ok with her and pointed in the direction of the bar. I looked at my husband and said I'm going to the bathroom, I want that table. I don't care what "she" says..... .we just drove more than an hour and I had to use the restroom, so I went ahead to the restroom. Actually we all went to the restrooms in the lobby since the restaurant did not have any. We got back, the half booth was cleaned and our menus were still on the other table.
We sat down and waited for our server after grabbing our menus ourselves. Finally, almost fifteen minutes later, we get the server, I say THE because she was the only one serving and that is fine because there's only a few tables. Takes our drink order, does not write it down and then we wait. We watched as the waitress disappeared and the reappeared to server another tables food, go back and get them condiments and then go back and get a manager because they had a complaint about their food, get a different entree ordered from the other table and disappear again and then serve the other entree before we are served our drinks two at a time, because I guess they don't use serving trays for parties of 4? Drinks came and ordered food, it was 8:30 by now we realized 45 for drinks and to get food ordered.....but its NYE and we drove over an hour to get away!!! Patience Right??
Well another half hour goes by and our appetizers come out, two orders of dried green tomatoes and one beer cheese fries. Food was excellent!!!! Um, our first drinks were way gone by now and we need more!!! Half hour later entrees come out and by that time we are thirsty for another drink, full and tired of being here. All of us had not a drop to drink, but had to ask the server as she walked away for some water please and a couple of sodas. No one wants to eat, food is delicious but our appetites are ruined. My friend was served the wrong sandwich, he ordered shrimp, not chicken......we ask for boxes and had our coats on standing up by the time they returned, we couldn't sit any longer!
Food is great, if you have the patience, however management is NOT doing anything. There were two managers at the restaurant and neither of them addressed any of the problems in the restaurant other than they guy who didn't like the taste of his food and got a different entree. Any real restaurant manager would have seen how bad the service was and would have corrected it by now. The review I read before going were the same, good food bad service. Still true. Even on NYE and no one...
Read moreI mirror what many other people are sharing from their experience at Sway. The one-star review primarily reflects the service as that was the only thing we received, or, sort of didn't.
We visited on a Sunday at approximately 7:30p. Dinner, party of two.
There was no signage at the entrance of the restaurant, so we assumed it was self-seating. We found a cozy high-top table outside. After about 15 minutes, we had still not been greeted by a hostess, received menus nor drinks. So we asked the person dinning next to us how they operate. She shared that she was seated by a hostess upon arrival, but had been waiting for a considerable amount of time for someone to return and process her payment since she had finished her meal. She said, "I've been waiting so long, I've even had time to sober up!" We decided to inquire within about some service. We eventually found the hostess and asked for menus to which she said she'd bring some to the table. Approximately 15 minutes after that, we still hadn't received menus, drinks, or even been greeted. We noticed the hostess is now about to seat a party of 5 in our area. She informs them they should expect to wait 35 to 45 minutes to receive their food once their order has been placed, but didn't give a reason why. The party of 5, as well as us, decided to take our business elsewhere.
I am inclined to say this is a short staffed situation caused by management and not the fault of the single hostess, single buser, single cook and single bartender who were present. The restaurant was not very busy at the time we were there. More seats were available than taken. Considering there are two large music festivals occurring at the moment, there is so much potential for revenue from tourists, but with service like this, Sway will disappoint...
Read moreNot recommended unless you are only going for a drink. As we walked down street, we saw this and looked to see what menu showed on-line. It showed something’s that we were like okay let’s try it. We sat inside and it was nicely decorated. They do have outside seating that is shaded by buildings in the evening, It also connects directly to the lobby of the Hyatt Regency. First miss was the menu they gave us and the menu on-line did not match. I asked waiter and he did not have a great answer. The drink menu was good size but slightly overpriced on Bourbons. We ordered jalapeño cornbread, wedge salad and brisket burnt ends sandwich with fries. The cornbread was about three inches tall and very dry. The wedge salad was supposed to have blistered tomatoes and dry ham. The tomatoes looked rotten. If they were blistered you think that they would have some black on them but they did not. The dry ham was chewy so not dry. Now for the sandwich, I smoke meat at home for a reference. The brisket burnt ends were tough. These should have been tender. The food was sub par for sure. The waiter was not very good. After we told about the food, he didn’t really say or do anything. We had to take him our payment. He didn’t not ring right away and walked off to an area that was not being used with our card. We had to go find him to ring up our transaction, very concerning. The manager did finally come over and told us they took off two of the items. We already knew that as we were in process of paying. He didn’t apologize but also made it out that we just didn’t like their interpretation of the food. The redemption was when we were leaving, another customer was complaining to the same manager about their food. It was a completely different dish. Again not...
