Context: I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana from the "Family Meals" section, not from the standard menu. I ordered for pick-up, and did not dine in.
The staff at the Front of House were markedly courteous and kind, and were wearing wonderful smiles. The wait was quite prompt, as the meal was in the oven for ~20 minutes. From the waiting area, the decor and ambience seemed quite lovely, and it looked like everyone was having a nice meal.
When I got home, I was excited to open up the nicely packaged 1/3 Tray of Eggplant Parmigiana. At first glance, the eggplant seemed to be nicely cooked, with a hearty layer of melted Parmesan on top.
Unfortunately, the beauty was only skin deep, underneath the lovely looking top of this pan, was nothing but pasta (image added for reference). The eggplant was almost undetectable on my palate, even when only eating the eggplant with no pasta. On closer inspection, it does not seem that much sauce was applied. The pasta, arguably the main dish, was alright. It wasn't overcooked, had a nice texture to it, but was not what I expected 80% of the dish to be.
If I wanted pasta and sauce, I would have run to my local supermarket.
The food was fresh and seemed like it contained quality ingredients.
Given the $35 price tag, I do not think I would order this again. Perhaps it was simply an off-day, or maybe the "Family Meal" has a different composition than the standard order. Regardless, I will not be ordering their eggplant parm again. However, it seems that many have had a wonderful experience with other menu items. The restaurant certainly...
Read moreWe went out on a rare date midweek, and honestly it was really disappointing.
The space was nearly empty when we arrived, we were seated quickly. I poured out olive oil for the bread and was immediately confused; the olive oil was very pale and flavorless, and judging by the flavor and viscosity, was probably cut with a neutral oil by at least 75%.
I have never visited an Italian or Mediterranean restaurant that cut corners so obviously with the olive oil, and especially not at that price point.
My Brussels sprouts starter was under-salted (possibly unsalted) and my the pollo rustica chicken was unseasoned. The rest of the dish had a lot of garlic but needed some acidity (it featured sundried tomatoes, but they're large to the point that the acidity isn't well-distributed). My husband's lasagna was pretty good, the bolognese was undersalted.
(To be clear, I don't remember the last time I salted restaurant food).
The physical setting was nice but the rest of the ambiance was perfunctory. The music was almost inaudible from our table, but we could overhear conversations from the bar and the one other occupied table near us. The server seemed like she was in a rush to be done with us.
Overall - I know that kitchen staff can vary and the quality of food as well, but between the low quality oil, seasoning problems, and setting drawbacks, I don't see...
Read moreThis was our first time coming believing food critics that this was the best in town. Boy were they wrong. The seating was fast but that's about all that was good.
We had to keep asking for more bread, as our neighbors had it coming one after another. We sat without water refills for over 15 min when again our neighbors had non-stop service.
I ordered the Chef's Dinner, I didn't receive my salad as an appetizer but after my entree came out but that wasn't even until I asked where my salad was. Who wants to eat their salad and leave their food to get cold? Especially when my whole family all had their entrees. Barely an apology, all I got was a "we adjusted the bill" from whom I'm assuming is the MOD. Why would you assume that I want my bill adjusted? I wanted a good family dinner no matter the price.
Still NO service, even after all that. Knowing we were not having the greatest evening, instead of trying to make us feel wanted since we came to YOUR restaurant you still ignored us.
We totally understand when you're busy, short staffed etc.... but this was awful experience to have been completely ignored, especially when I have my with kids with me and they see you serving others and not us.
We drove pretty far to have been treated this way. Sadly we will...
