Updating review to downgrade, original review below.
I want so bad for this place to reach its potential but they seem content to coast on being the only place in town doing upscale fried chicken. It pains me to say that in the several months since original review my experiences are trending worse! Examples seem small but there is at least some random thing wrong almost every single time.
Forgot sauce for the entire $85 carryout order of chicken. Received Nashville hot sauce that was just... oil. Soda machine is still perpetually out of at least one flavor. Cleaning tables, floors, trash bins, and bathrooms is an afterthought during rush hours.
But the worst part is the inconsistency of the chicken - the core of the restaurant. In one sitting a family member had perfectly golden brown strips while another had pieces so over cooked that it was uncomfortable to chew and the basket is littered with bits of uneaten expensive chicken. Guys, train your staff to cook the small and thin strips for less time than the big thick ones! This is fundamental to what you do!
Also disappointing that I was publicly encouraged to contact management after my original review which pointed out the inconsistency and potential. Wondering if they perhaps wanted more details I did reach out and I never got a response.
The remaining positive is that staff continues to be friendly and hardworking. They simply need more training, better systems, or more support. Oh, and the salads are very fresh.
Convenience was the only thing keeping us coming back but that may not be enough anymore. I'm driving to FoCo, Longmont, or maybe even the fast food chicken chain down the street. I'll check back someday to see if things are any better.
Original Exceptionally inconsistent but I keep coming back. At its very best, this place is really good just not quite at the same level as Music City in FoCo or the Post in Longmont. But, getting its best is a roll of the dice.
Sometimes the chicken is slightly overcooked with a slight burn on the breading (other times perfect), sometimes you get barely any of the expensive sauce tossed on your strip, sometimes way too much and sometimes perfect, the soda machine it’s usually out of at least one flavor sometimes multiple, etc. Perhaps staff training and turnover are the cause?
The location is convenient and still better than other name brand chicken chains available in Loveland, so we get Comet fairly regularly. 4.5 star rating if they can sort out...
Read moreJanuary 2025 Update Wanted to provide an update. It has been a while since our family was willing to try Comet Chicken again. I was thoroughly impressed with our visit. We ordered online for carryout, staff were friendly and food was ready on time. Everyone's food was wonderful and portions were generous. Truly a night and day experience since our last visit. Happy to say that we will be back to the Loveland Comet again.
2024 Update**
Unfortunately over the last year quality, order accuracy, and service has slipped to the point that I can no longer recommend the Loveland location. We have had issues with 6 of the last 8 takeout orders. Things have been missing resulting in us having to return to the store for a fix. I need to comment on the quality of their chicken and sauces. The chicken has turned from great to mediocre at best. Extras sauces are usually less than half full. Our family has given this location a multitude of chances in hopes of improving. I am hopeful something will change, but until then I will make the drive to their Fort Collins location as it continues to be the gold standard for Comet Chicken in northern Colorado .
Previously 5/5 Amazing food and friendly staff. Very clean restaurant. I love their Nashville hot sandwich. Space fries are a must! Highly recommended... You will not be...
Read moreI ordered the Bahn Mi sandwich and it was amazing, however, my boyfriend ordered the Classic sandwich but his was not as great. After a few bites, he noticed a portion of the bun was greenish-gray. We asked one of the servers to take a look and even he seemed sketched out and said, "Yeah, that doesn't look right." They remade his sandwich and we were told that per their manager - "It was not mold, but grease." What kind of chicken grease is green? We were super excited because it was our first visit, but then bummed when we got the moldy bread. We should've taken a picture because the mold was so noticeable, like how did you send this out with that much mold showing? The food was good, but we're not sure if we'll come back. Not sure if we trust the quality of food.
UPDATE Since then, the owner reached out and invited us back for another meal - a do-over. I really appreciate that he reached out, as it shows he cares. My boyfriend and I went back and our experience was 100% 👏🏼😃 I got the buffalo chicken sandwich and my boyfriend got the classic sandwich again ... both were 🔥 ... yummy food, great customer service ... so glad we found our new chicken go-to place! Thank you for making our...
