Quite disappointed. I stopped in last night while I was at Centerra and the last thing I want to do is post a critique of the young gal who was working there, at least she is working and making an effort. This is more to hopefully make a change. I ordered a grande cup - two flavors. The poor girl could barely reach the two flavors I chose because they were on the bottom of the display and the bins were half empty so the majority of the Gelato on both selections were at the opposite end of the bin so she gave up trying to add more to the cup. Literally spent $9 on a half empty cup of ice cream with the bottom of the cup basically hollow on both flavors. Plus she had such a difficult time adding to the cup because she couldn't get any on the scoop that more of the Gelato was on the outside of the cup hanging over then the inside. Made for a very messy attempt at eating before it all melted. Suggestion to your staff, if the ice cream bins are half empty with the main half at the end towards the glass, suggest they flip it so they can reach it better. Second suggestion - maybe a scale with the "needs to be at weight" should be used in order to make $9 worth it. That way they know if they are even close to what your idea for quantity should be rather than a few scrapes of ice cream. Third suggestion - if they make a mess on the cup, invest in a napkin or two to wipe the sides and push any ice cream hanging over and down the sides back into the cup. I stood there in amazement that she didn't think twice and that it was ok to hand it to me. I still gave her a small tip just out of feeling obligated but I didn't say anything because the store was busy and I didn't feel it was worth it or appropriate to embarrass her. At least a review would provide the owner with suggestions on what they can work on and to make the increased cost worth it for the customer. I think gold is less expensive per ounce from what I paid.
UPDATE for clarification - $9.00 included the sales tax and tip, so although your statement is correct about the price of the cup, the price I paid was $9, therefore that is the cost. Second, no, she didn't weigh the cup. She went straight from taking it out of the bins to handing it to me because she thought the people behind me were in my group and started to immediately serve them. She then came over when she realized I was not and processed the sale. Not trying to split hairs with you, but yes it was $9 and no I did not see her weigh it, the cup was definitely not in proportion to weights and measures but alas lesson learned. Lastly, saying something at the time, she looked stressed and I didn't feel like being one of those who would make her feel overwhelmed since the store was crowded. It was better to cut my losses and just post a comment in hopes that the store would try and address my experience for future changes so customers don't go all Karen... I'm not interested in being a Karen to a young girl just trying to work. I was just very disappointed and my gold comment was yes a funny and an exaggeration. Glad it...
Read moreHORRIBLE SERVICE! Not planning on coming here again.. I usually would not leave a review since I know how this can affect your company.. I felt very discriminated with the 4 employees that where not doing there job. We took the kids to get some gelato for the first time asked for some samples since we have never tried gelato and the thicker women kept saying “hold on, hold on” with a horrible attitude and gave me a horrible look and handed the sample very aggressively. Don’t think you want those type of employees working for your establishment. As we where trying the gelato I asked if there was any strawberry cheesecake and the blonde girl with glasses said “no I didn’t make that today” very rudely. A lady behind us already knew her order REMEMBER there’s 4 employees.. she asked if she could be help but one of the girls said “don’t you see we are helping them” very rudely. She ended up ordering.. then we saw that one of your employees slammed the ice cream to her.. the lady said “I refuse to take an ice cream that was slammed to me “ as she walked out we began to leave as well since we where unsure we were going to order at this point due to the poor service. Then as we walk out the door the blonde girl says “they didn’t order anything?” The thicker girl says “no” with an attitude and a smirk. My cousin heard them say that and made sure they knew we heard them and told them “ If they don’t like socializing..then this is NOT the job for you” Again won’t be coming back EVER. Sadly I had to give this a one star..just because it would not let me leave a...
Read moreStrolling through quiet Centerra on a Saturday afternoon with my sisters and their daughters, I was the fun aunt and suggested pre-dinner dessert. Three little ones, all under the age of 5, agreed it was a fantastic idea.
Most of the flavors looked great, but are dairy-based. For us lactose-free folk, there were some good options as well. I had the vegan dark chocolate and strawberry sorbet as a half-and-half small serving.
One of my nieces chose a sophisticated flavor because the name looked pretty (Amaretto) and it was too much for her. I thought she had chosen Nutella...we should have steered her toward her palette more.
There was a sampling of the limon gelato that I got a taste of, and it was fresh and not too sweet. I like more fruit than sugar in my desserts.
The best surprise was the delicious macaron, just plain vanilla packed with flavor. I haven’t met a macaron that I’ve liked...until now. Chewy, dense yet light, and sweet. Bravo!
Cute little shop that I’m glad we stopped...
