It was a Sarah McLachlan video, only there was no place to contribute money to help anyone. Had I known going in, what the sculptures would be about, it would have been a very different trip. It would have been a hard education and insight trip. But these reviews are talking like it's a peaceful, inspiring place to be. Famine, starvation, getting rid of one of your twins because it was considered bad luck, drunken fathers on the floor, mother not being able to pick up her child anymore because he is too big, evil spirits causing bad luck... this didn't showcase life in Zimbabwe. It showcased the saddest, more depressing aspects of it and left us with an icky feelings. While I understand what it was aiming for, I feel it was a missed opportunity to show beauty, and hard work along with the struggles and sorrow. It was a walk through the sorrow garden, basically.
