Friendly, great food. So my post was about a year ago. A year ago told them over the phone that their tamales sucked. They still do. Too much masa, like they pressed a wad of masa around two teaspoons of pork and then wrapped them in corn husk. You guys, I enjoy your food. I usually spend between 40 and 60 dollars on your already fixed meals. They are all excellent minus your gross tamales. Yes, I'm the white dude who speaks Spanish to some of you. My Spanish is excellent and native. Though not from México. Perhaps you can now identify me. Yes much older than all of you minus the tall older Mexican owner ( is he still the owner or is he allowing it to be run by others?). And yes my accent in Spanish is very identifiable as you all may guess in what country I was born. The handsome young man who serves the food behind the warmer sure knows where I'm from. In any event and as a leaning opportunity to the staff making tamales: PLEASE VISIT PLAZA LAS AMERICAS in Ft. Collins. They make pork tamales ( the masa usually turns red or orange because it's well mixed with the goodies from their pork), chicken tamales and jalapeño tamales. One has to order in advance or be there very early on Saturdays and Sundays. If not, forget it, no tamales left. Please try their tamales. Last year I complained over the phone to a lady ( in the Spanish language and it was 2020). I decided to give you a second chance on 2021, in fact it was New Years Eve. Honestly big dissapointment. I mean your food is really good but your tamales get a big zero. Looks like someone had rushed, pressed the masa around two teaspoons of meat and finally placed the whole stuff ( cause that's what it is, stuff) againt the corn husk leaves to form the blessed tamales that I was expecting. This is the last time I buy tamales from you. I think your customers are being too kind as I haven't read a good critique on this offering at your store. As we say in my country: " PONGANSE LAS PILAS" .
Read moreThis is not my first time rating this locale. I first want to share with you my positive thoughts: Their tortillas and the several food preparations to put together a delicious burrito!!!!
Now my negative thoughts. BTW, this is not the first time I've criticized their poor quality TAMALES. Dear public, I have always been critical of how the typical Mexican dish of THE TAMALE continues to be a poorly prepared item. I'm not going to tell you about it's flaws. I am however going to share a place where you should travel to and enjoy the delicacy. Honestly this favorite place of mine is superb: " Tortilleria y Panaderia Las 4 Americas, 1669 S College Ave. Fort Collins, CO 80525
I am asking that the Manager and Tamale cooks from " The Tortilla Factory" in Loveland go on a covert operation. Please ry the Tamales from the Fort Collins establishment listed in this posting. Ask their cooks and learn! I will tell you what I see and taste in their tamales. #1 your 1/2 a dozen hot tamales come in a plastic bag and they are orange in color. #2 the masa has been previously mixed with the grease ( unfortunately that's what is, a beautiful juicy red and orange color that is tasty and that melts in your mouth) #3 The distribution of meat versus masa is perfect. When the leafs of the corn husk is unwrapped you notice that the masa adhered to the leaf is about 1mm thick. Once you unfold the tamale in it's entirety you observe a well proportioned ratio of masa to meat. In other words, that compacted packet gently covered in masa. #4 The abundant pulled pork flows in juices. It's a stream of love and labor. #5 optional chicken tamales also available and equally juicy with perfect distribution of masa to meat. #6 When I bite into a Las 4 Americas tamales I taste meat that is not only juicy but that has been flavored with everything that is necessary and that has been complimentary surrounded by a thin layer of masa that is equally juicy and tasty.
Mr. Or Mrs Tortilla factory manager, this is not my 1st time criticizing your tamale. You obviously have not attempted to change its preparation therefore I have listed all the wonderful things that have absent throughout years. Please remove this item from your menu or learn from other establishments. Your food preparations options are excellent!!! JUST NOT...
Read moreI was looking forward to trying this place after hearing good things about it. I was disappointed. The food wasn't good and it was pricey for what we received. The bean and cheese burrito wasn't even folded like a burrito! It was more like a taco, laying on it side with beans running out of it.
The flour tortilla had a strange consistency, almost grainy or gritty. They were also stiff and broke as you tried to take a bite. The beans themselves weren't very good either. The tacos were also a disappointment. My husband will usually eat whatever I can't eat and he was willing to throw it away, which he never does. It was just an overall bad experience and we...
